Lord of The Rings Online!

Postby KOko » Thu Nov 18, 2010 3:33 pm

Well, it's MMO based on the epic Tolkien's book (not the movies) and it's been arround for 3 years, but only recently changed the mode to F2P (Free to Play).
As every other MMO it's an awful life waster, but isn't the SWBF2 the same ?

Don't miss the opportunity to enter the masive world of Middle Earth and kill some orcs!

It is average in the looks department. I do love the game so far though. {MM} has a small guild established on Brandywine and several other SWBF2 players play on that server as well.

[04:29] (SWGO)SWINE*FLU: We'll do it in turns.
[04:30] -SR-Mandalore: That sounds super fair
[04:30] -SR-Mandalore: Do you think other gay couples do that?
[04:30] (SWGO)SWINE*FLU: I reckon so.

I've been playing this since it's Alpha testing days in 06 and have had quite a great time playing it over the years. If anyone plays on the Elendilmir server hit me up as Gout, Pelican or Nitemoovs.

Is this game really that good? Especially multi-player online?

There is no single player.
Also, Koko, the game is about as challenging as scratching my nose. It is very WoW-esque in its combat and unless you have no idea how to manage multiples you shouldn't be dying. Especially after you learn your class.

So you tell me doin GA Barrows (Ivar the Blood-Hand) on the level intended (34) with a small fellowship (3 man) is not challenging ?

We did it yesterday with 41lvl hunter, 51lvl Guardian and 35lvl Lore-Master and we failed 2 times just like that - BOOOM, you're dead.
The third time we got him but it was a pure luck, because at the end it was only the Guardian still alive and was a matter of a second for him to fall.
Before that I failed this instance a few times with Hunter, Burglar and Ministrel fellowship, all ~40lvl.

Idk, Mandi, maybe you and I play a different LOTRO game... or you scratch your nose in a very challenging way indeed.

I can't help it you were stupid enough to ignore the holy trinity of MMOs that has been established at least since 1999. Healer, DPS, and Tank. LM is much more of a CC/debuffer than it is a healer, they only have one spot heal. Try using a mini and see fi your results are different.

I can't help it but laugh at your arrogance.
Either you have never did this instance, or you did it before the revamp when it was 4ppl (not 3ppl as it is now), or you did it with some 65lvl in the group.

The issue in killin Ivar is not the heal rate and/or keeping the tank alive. The main issue is to keep the healer/buffer alive when Ivar send his spawns.
The spawns are many, the place is small and the healer get aggro and dies fast. If the tank focus on spawns to take aggro from the healer, then the DPS get boss aggro and dies.
Not to mention that with the last update you should not kill the Wights who protect Ivar or the instance fails.
I give this example because it's reported numerous times as very unballanced instance many ppl find impossible to be done by 3ppl on the level cap of 34.
Most ppl report that the same 3ppl fellowship that miserably fails on Ivar got no issues and do just fine in next (Red maid) instance that is 6ppl.
Of course killing Ivar is doable but needs planning, tactics and teamwork.
So, as I said - the game CAN BE challenging.
Another example - soloing most of the fellowship missions is VERY challenging even if your character is 10lvls higher.

PS: Can you please upload a map of your nose so we can think about some better tactics for scratchin it ?
