A place to comment anything about other (not SWGO supported) games.

My buddies in PLA (who ran the only American server pretty much) are using Tunngle for their server needs. Wasn't too bad, they had it set up within like 3 days, with no advanced warning from GS they were being shut down.

[04:30] -SR-Mandalore: Do you think other gay couples do that?
[04:30] (SWGO)SWINE*FLU: I reckon so.

Sorry to bump this topic, but this is a pretty serious issue to think about. If Gamespy shuts down matchmaking for SWBF2, we will have to have a third party server browser of some type. I've played other games that have them (Vortex for Descent III, etc).

My question is this: can't you just use Xfire to join a server? I know you can join the server your friend is on just by clicking in there. Not sure how convenient an XFire solution would be, but it suggests that someone can make an external program launch SWBF2 and have it connect to a server without using the internal browser.

Anybody familiar with the protocol used by Xfire? I have some experience with Java, so I might try my hand at a prototype. Might be something as simple as run("swbf2.exe -s 127.0.0.1").
