Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Postby Heatmaster78 » Tue Jul 12, 2011 9:26 pm

This game is the last one in the Metroid Prime series and is the only one with which you can use your ship to travel to different planets.

So pretty much this is the previous 2 games in a nutshell:
MP1: Samus goes to Tallon IV, discovers Metroid Prime, kills it.
MP2: Samus goes to Aether, finds Dark Samus and Ing, kills Dark Samus and the Ing, destroys Dark Aether.

The game starts out with a Galactic Federation fleet in orbit above the planet Norion, then a Space Pirate fleet warps in and attacks. The pirates have a "leviathan" that is completely charged with a substance called "phazon." Phazon is a substance that, when used, can mutate creatures and organisms into nightmares. Phazon also gives increased strength, life, and firepower. After you stop the Norion invasion you return onto the G.F.S Olympus with a P.E.D suit and 10% phazon corruption level and can use an ability called Hypermode to inject an energy tank and turn that energy into phazon energy that you shoot with your arm cannon. You learn that your fellow bounty hunters havn't been heard from in a week so you go to take their place on 3 different planets: Bryyo, Elysia, and the Pirate Homeworld. When you get to a specific point on these planets you encounter these bounty hunters, who also have a P.E.D suit. *SPOILER ALERT* All 3 hunters are have been corrupted by phazon and have turned against everything good. Each planet has a leviathan and you have to destroy it, but it isn't that simple. Each leviathan has a boss that is related to the planet and its history. For example: Elysia is has a history of "creators" who used great mechanical machines, and the boss is named "Helios" who is a robot/mechanical machine. After you defeat each boss you get more and more phazon corruption. Your suit model also changes and gets more of a blue color as you gain corruption. Before the final area, you have to go to an abandoned Federation ship called the "G.F.S Valhalla." It, in my opinion, is the CREEPIEST place in any Metroid Prime game. You can also find a secret message, which is a little obvious considering where the developers placed it, that has the Aurora Unit (a big smart robot) detailing how the Space Pirates are moving them from the Valhalla to a planet whos name I will reveal later.

Now onto the final area.

The Federation hijacks a leviathan and opens a wormhole to the planet source of all phazon, Phaaze. The Federation fleet is greeted (not so kindly) by a Space Pirate fleet. Sadly you do not get to participate in the battle, which is kind of an ass thing to do on the developer's part since your ship has a combat HUD, as you have to go down to the surface of Phaaze. So, you have 75% corruption level, tons of energy tanks and missiles. Nothing could go wrong, right? Well when you take your FIRST step out of your ship a cutscene rolls where MORE phazon enters Samus' body. The camera then zooms in on the P.E.D suit which has a Federation icon. When you play this for the first time you'll probably go "OH GODDAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT I'M GONNA DIE WHY THE HELL DID I PLAY THIS GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE I HAZ TOO MUCH CORRUPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. That icon is what you push to vent your energy tanks and save yourself from becoming absolutely corrupted. After you do that, the deal pretty much is this:
1. You are permanently in Hypermode ( :D )
2. There's a yellow bar at the top of the screen and it fills up as long as you're on Phaaze and every time you take damage.
3. Using Hypermode attacks lowers the yellow bar.
You then go through the entire planet and finally find... DARK SAMUS! YES, the one who you saw a teaser of in MP1, the one who you nearly eradicated in MP2, is BACK for one last kick-ass boss fight. After you kill Dark Samus you have to fight Aurora Unit 313 who is the same Aurora Unit that got hijacked from the Valhalla way way back. You fight it when it's attatched to its neck and the head of it. After you defeat the Aurora Unit, prepare for a long cutscene and the end credits because you have just beaten the game. Overall, MP3 is a pretty good game, but it goes by really fast even if you go for 100% items and it is really easy to beat.

So after this runthrough of MP3 I'd like to hear your guys' thoughts if you've played the game or even the Metroid Prime series.
Now for some pictures of the bounty hunters and other characters:

This thing reads like a transcript of a video review, which might have been interesting if not for the fact that there is a reason that video reviews are not written. When it's written down, it's ridiculously shallow, you realize that the "review" is more or less an overview of the game's plot, and that the jokes are pretty bad. In some cases a bad joke can be funny thanks to delivery, but due to the fact that you wrote it down, you can't even get that.

And Fuzzy Cat, shut the [m'kay] up and post some meaningful [m'kay] replies instead of "lol" or a [m'kay] smiley. This is a forum, not a chat room.

You missed the necro-spammer bot.
