Unfortunately, that last thread got locked before I could add this little bit in.
From reading the different responses, I noticed a glaring problem that a lot of people are mistaken with.
I see statements that science contradicting itself, and the bible contradicting science or the other way around, and the truth couldn't be further off. Actually the bible is very much in agreement with science:
For example
Job 26:7 - The earth hangs upon nothing
Isaiah 40:22 - The earth is round
Amos 5:8 - The water cycle
These are just some of the examples of scriptures you can find, and all of these statements were made well before scientist proved these theories true. So we see that while the bible is not a science book and does not claim to be one, it is not in conflict with science at all.
But what then about evolution vs creation?
First it is very important to remind everyone that evolution is NOT a scientific fact. It is a theory. Science is defined as a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws. Many scientists today all agree that while the theory of evolution is based on some facts there are still many unanswered questions and holes in the argument. Whether you believe in evolution or creation by God, both require faith. Yes evolution like creation is based on faith.
The reason for this misconception, comes from the fact that in schools today, evolution is taught as a fact, it has gained the weight of public opinion and most little has been done to oppose it. Even most religious organizations who claim to believe in creation have woefully failed to explain creation. Many, who go to church, don’t understand why they believe what they do. This is why it is important for people to take ers into their own hands, educate you, read the bible. Don’t be skeptical read it with an open mind, be objective, remember to read the whole context and understand what you are reading before judging it and making conclusions.
As said before. Both are ideas that must begin with faith. Yes I do believe in God. I believe that God created the earth no not in 6 literal days, but over a period of time, those are my beliefs. I have drawn my conclusions based on what I have read in the bible, what I know about this planet, & human life, and from my own experiences in learning about God and the fact that anyone who wants to can draw close to him. These are my beliefs, you don’t have to agree with them, but let’s keep the facts straight
