Yeah, Lyrica is expensive as hell.. MedCo forces me to buy it in three month supplies. Which is like, $150 or some crap like that. I tried Gabapentin, and it didn't give me the zombie effect my doctor warned me about and you experienced. It didn't do anything for me, however, so I switch to Lyrica. Which doesn't do pretty much anything either. Fibromyalgi sucks.
The laws here in Ohio are so messed up, but maybe it's not just here then. You said you have trouble getting doctor's to prescribe opiates? Sounds all too familiar. My mom was hit by a jeep 11 years ago as a pedestrian, and while they've done everything they can for her with surgery, she's still in a lot of pain. She was on morphine, till her doctor got pissy and left he because my mom couldn't go to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. We don't have the money to get her there and pay for everything. Sure, the clinic itself is free but you have to pay for he flight, then the hotel to stay there. And then my dad would have to take off work to do it. It's just not practical. But he got upset and wasn't understanding, so he dumped her and stopped prescribing her medication. It's been downhill ever since. We can't find a doctor willing to prescribe any narcotics, beyond a little Percocet each month from the family doctor (he's awesome, always listens to us and is a pretty nice guy).
Anyway, I digress. I hope you feel better and I wish you the best of luck in life.
