Its a phenomena called "P3".

What magically changed over the years to create such modern day terror toddlers and rug-rats? I grew up with animals since I was knee high to a grasshopper. It never even occurred to me at that age to even think of treating animals like some of these kids these day do.

Well, Brazmin, your answer is below:

I'm ashamed to admit it but I have a family member who got his kicks out of testing just how long he can hold a kitten underwater before it stops moving. The kid had some serious problems because his parents ignored him for hours during the day so they could get on with their "fun" time.

Overall, I think its a poor decision to get a child a pet until they mature enough to understand right from wrong. I grew up with dogs and from what I've seen a child seems to "get it" sooner if the dog was a part of the family before they were. My son, who is only 3, is pretty good with our dog. His only problem is he feeds her too much of his food, and doesn't understand that the dog doesn't like to cuddle as tightly as he wants. The meanest thing he's ever done is pointed at the floor and yelled at her to "Lay down!".

Before we start killing young children (the idea tears my heart in pieces to even fathom) we need to start making sure that parents know what they're getting into and punishing them for not supervising their children close enough. My advice, if there is a subject you feel this strong about, start an appeal for awareness and give advice to people you think need it. I'll even offer up my web services for FREE!!
