what is your objective? If you like public service and want to become a politician... then you have no choice but to work for free. However, just because you are studying international relations that doesn't mean you can't work in other areas. You could totally work in a financial area.... even finance kids don't know what they are doing when they start working. Even if you graduate with a gpa of 4.0, you don't know anything. The real learning experience is not in the college courses. So, even if you are an international relations major, I am sure economics and finance majors do not have much more knowledge of the area than you do. In fact, it is very common for engineering kids to work in financial institutions.... why can't you? an internship is better than nothing (or a non paid internship).
