Cities in the U.S are probably the best in the world. I am not kidding. Most of them are clean, modern and flexible to change. Chicago, in my opinion, has to be the best in the world. As for Indianapolis, it is also a good city... not as big and fancy as Chicago, but it is definitely a good place to live.

Midwest

I used to travel a lot when I used to work for Kodak, seen most of this country. I used to be one of those that wanted to get out of Wisconsin when I was young. When I was old enough (19), I moved to Spartanburg South Carolina with a friend..it was a disaster, so I moved back. Came home, went to school for Commercial Art and then Electronics. Kodak gave me an opportunity, and I grabbed it (My dream job was to travel and get paid for it). So now, I have my dream job, I get to see parts of this land that I never dreamt of seeing. Saw the majestic Rockies in Montana, Mt St Helens in Washington(erupted in the 80's and it had part of the mountain blown off.. very cool to see), The beautiful Oregon coast (Cannon Beach), Los Angeles (wasn't impressed), Miami (loved it), NYC (too big), Puerto Rico (my kind of place), Texas, Georgia, Kansas, and I can go on for quite a bit if added every single stop I made.
To get to the point. After all my travels, and my desire to leave Wisconsin, I found that I missed Milwaukee. And I was never gone too long... no er where I went, I came home every weekend. I realized after seeing all these different places, that I was lucky to live in Milwaukee. All the major cities that I went to were dirty, trash everywhere, unfriendly people (not all), but not Milwaukee. Milwaukee has to be the cleanest city I have ever seen. Milwaukee also had character, but perhaps it wouldn't be fair to say that other places didn't, I was only in most places for a few days.. sometimes just hours, then I hop on a plane and go elsewhere.
Otto, Chicago is awesome, love the food there, but explore Indy.. I bet you that your hometown has so much to offer. Read up on it's history, find out why Indy is there, how did it get the name, what are the things that make Indy so unique, and so on. I guarantee you that you will find a lot of cool and interesting things about the city you call home.

I will definitely follow your advice there. I really enjoy history and everytime I have family over here, first place we take them is to the Indiana State Museum. The U.S is so big, that every state has something unique and beautiful.

Can't say that I have. I spent most of the time in Portland, decided to take a drive to the coast and ran into Cannon Beach. Beautiful scenery.
Haas, I didn't visit Gaffney. While in Spartanburg, I went to Myrtle Beach, Charlotte (N.C), Greenville and Anderson. A tid bit... found it strange that the DJ's on the radio and the newscasters on TV, spoke "Northern". None of them had that Southern "twang". Read somewhere that newscasters are trained to speak "Midwestern". Apparently, the Midwest dialect is the closest to true American English.

About 30 miles north of Cannon Beach is Seaside, where Caboose and I honeymooned. Tillamook is famous for its cheese factory and ice cream. about 20 miles south of Tillamook is where I grew up.
