Yet another reason the Dky glitch should be banned. I won't start that argument again.

OK OK I guess I did start it again :innocent:

Indeed, the benefits of the dtg being banned--or in this case, patched--outweigh the costs significantly, in my opinion. RAPTOR's Legacy research & development branch has provided a stable patch that roots out a lot of the game's ingame exploits.

Hang on now.. what exploits? Some people consider Det rushing an exploit, tank flying, etc. I'm fearing that a patch could become a "personal preference" of what the game "should" be.. in their eyes. While I consider Darkie glitching is an exploit, I wonder what would be the next "exploit" that needs a patch? Just leave the game alone and learn how to fight it ingame. I will still whine and [female dog] about it ingame though. :whistling:

from what I've heard, patching glitches and exploits generates server lag.

True, I oppose the dtg as much as any person who struggles to defeat it. I cannot put it in any other way though: the patch is designed to fix a glitchy part of the servers code--particularly a big glitch actually. This is not for "personal preference" reasons, but rather, for the betterment of the game altogether. It's only a coincidence that those who oppose it are capable of patching it. There are players that agree with us that DTG should be somehow removed or banned, as well as some SWGO admins.

While I do agree that the game is on it's deathbed, and is on life support, RAPTOR thought it would be prudent to fix up the game for it's remaining time. The patch is stable, only modifies the code that is directly causing the glitch, and reunites the shot delay function to the game; nothing more, nothing less. However, there is also the viewpoint of "if it ain't broken, don't fix it". Nevertheless, this is a safe and easy option to eliminate the unfair playstyle caused by this exploit, and the other aspects of the exploit as well. Hell, even Bryant agrees that the code we patched causes what is known as the "Shot Delay Reset bug"--which is more than just DTG now; it affects jet troopers being able to bypass the shot cooldown, grenades being thrown too early, detpacks being thrown too early, and anything that has a shot delay value on the weapon properties.

Hobo wrote:from what I've heard, patching glitches and exploits generates server lag.

This is mostly true, but this won't cause server lag; this particular patch will cause very little of something known as 'client lag', but this is only because the client's executable is built from the same idea of the server. In other words, modifying the server exe will cause the client exe to question what the server is doing, if code was changed. But it must regardless obey the server sided code, causing the 'client lag'. However, this can be reduced significantly when you increase the server's 'Ticks Per Second' (TPS) value.
