I know. Sometimes I just gotta shake up the bee hive to see if there is any honey. Besides, these younglings like to spout off without thinking and I just would like to hear where they are coming from. Maybe one or two will stop drinking the Kool-aid long enough to form their own opinions.

Besides, it's been kind of boring lately.

I'm old therefore my opinions are more valid.

Both parties are wrong. Moderate pl0x. One who understands laissez-faire in its unadulterated form doesn't work the same that he/she understands that over-regulation is just as hurtful. One who understands that America is too large for nice ideals like gun control and socialized health care to work. One who understands America is not a Christian nation, but a secular one who relies on the word of law, not God.

What's offensive is that fact that he's implying our country and its principals are Christian based, while that is contrary to the truth. Rick Perry is the most uneducated and worst spoken candidate out there, and now all he has left to cling onto is ultra-conservative evangelical beliefs in hopes to gain some support in Iowa.

Politeness is a discipline that compels respectful behavior. Morality is like a politeness of the soul, an etiquette of the inner life, a code of duties, a ceremonial of the essential.

Well...Huntsman maybe...

You do know that Huntsman is polling in the 1% of the total vote right?

I said he is worthy of it, not that he'll ever get the nomination.

They probably don't have a clue what the 'Founding Fathers' believed anyway. It's not taught in school anymore, since Christianity is too offensive.

Oh I don't know, the fact that he's a homophobic bastard and he's attacking gays and he's promoting Christianity in a religiously free country. That's what I find offensive about this ad.

"Children can't openly celebrate Christmas."
I bet you $5 he pulled this out of his ass. It's a complete lie, anyone can celebrate Christmas if they want to.

"Kids can't pray in school."
They can if they go to a Christian, Catholic, Lutheran, or any other religion specific school but not in a public one.

You don't have to know anything about politics to know that this ad is horribly offensive to gays in the military, and gays in general for that matter.
"La mort n'est rien, mais pour vivre vaincu et sans gloire, c'est mourir tous les jours."
("Death is nothing, but to live defeated and with no glory is to die every day.")

@WD-40 and others, your lack of respect is astounding.* Not to be rude in any way, but I am a history whiz. I love studying and learning, and I know several viewpoints of our nation's founding fathers on various issues. I probably know more than most. And, yes, the nation was founded on the viewpoints of the British colonists, but this is a different world. Most of the things they believed in are not applicable to today. War is different, religion is different, the whole world is different-- and, in most cases, better! Concerning this ad, Rick Perry appeals to an ever dwindling minority that believes that prejudice and forcing beliefs down people's throat is the way the world should work. I am a moderate, but I will always stick up for equal rights! THAT, my friend, is an American value, introduced by the Declaration of Independence (authored by Thomas Jefferson, U.S. Ambassador to France and 3rd president of the United States, ideas taken from John Locke).

ALSO, you must know that what the founding fathers believed didn't work in their times either. The Articles of Confederation turned out to be a failure. The nation was on the brink of collapse from lack of foreign respect, debt, states' rights to the extreme, and events like Shays' Rebellion.

By the way, not ALL the founding fathers believed in establishing a state church, else we would have had one. States' documents like the Virginia Statue of Freedom established, if redefined is not the right word, the principle of separation of church and state. I think you might be the one in error.

Note*: Every part of this post has been written with what I consider all due respect, and none of it should be taken offensively.

I've taken AP US History and AP Government (both taught by conservatives), so you don't need to school me in your false beliefs about what our Founding Fathers believed in...

Do you want to know what they believed in? Here's a direct quote from the Treaty of Tripoli, which was approved and ratified by our Fathers in 1796:

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen,—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

A majority of the Framers were deists, meaning they didn't believe God had any influence in human life at all. Saying that gays shouldn't be able to serve in the military and that our schools should adopt a Christian system in a very ignorant and misinformed claim, because it's implying that our country's morals are based on Christianity, which is obviously not true...
