Jeb Bush has petered out, and too many "honest" conservatives are sick of what they can clearly see to be establishment politics. Trump or Carson would be the new natural mantle-bearers, but one is a showman and the other the most imbecilic intellectual in the country - the status quo will likely be preserved (Cruz is too flamboyant, Huckabee too limited in vision, and Fiorina too inexperienced).
Trump, I'm convinced, is attempting to make the GOP appear unpalatable as possible to the average American by conveying in plain language the real racist, elitist aims of conservative policies - in this way he's going to help Hillary (whom I dread) take the General, supposing she beats Sanders (whom I support wholeheartedly) in the Primaries.

We're seven years into the Obama presidency now. We're not a socialist dystopia, drones haven't come for your guns, we're not under Sharia law. Don't you think it's time to admit that Obama's just a typical Democrat, and that this stuff is all right-wing propaganda? The Republican Establishment/press complex are using you. They never believed any of that; they're just talking him up as the Great Enemy so that you'll do whatever they say in order to stop him.
That's a fairly common thing to do in politics, you'll notice. It's happening on both sides of this current election as well.
WD-40 wrote:7 years of non-stop battles to 'prevent' his Socialist agenda you mean? If he had a crown and the unfettered authority of a King to use it, we would be more Socialist than the old USSR by now! Obama is no 'typical Democrat'. In fact, he shouldnt be classified as a Democrat at all. He is as far left leaning as a 'Liberal' can be.

And to get this back to 2016, this is why I think Bernie Sanders will lose if he gets to the general. Because, unlike Obama, the rhetoric WD's throwing around there will bite a lot more deeply.

Recently, Trump said "You have to take out their families too to stop them". That may be very well true, and many would quietly agree, but it is statements like that, that could hurt more than help, because many Americans look at their own families and see 'innocence' (even if Daddy is a terrorist), so it may not resonate quite like he wants it to.
Trump has also struck pay dirt slamming politicians in general referring to them as incompetent idiots, which resonates and reflects how so many people feel about DC, including the black community. Ive never seen blacks endorse a white candidate like that before, except maybe Bill Clinton to a certain degree.
Time will tell if Trump can keep the steam up and win the nomination, but unless the other Candidates can unite and stand behind the ultimate victor, even a sack of lying, useless [poo] like Hillary will be a challenge to beat since Democrats are pretty loyal to their party and will follow their candidate into the firey abyss if thats what it takes to say they've won. Trump's Achilles heal is his off the cuff statements that offend races and genders. If he can manage to keep that in check, he may cross the finish line in first place. If he doesnt, and goes third party, God help the USA, because it will be a Clinton, Bush, Ross Perot battlefest all over again.
