Israel may be a fine, upstanding nation. An ardent supporter of western ideals and beacon of hope provided unto all the Jewish, though the government and military have perpetrated numerous acts of violence and oppression. Obviously, Judaism in Israel is not used to persecute residents as acutely as Islam is used (it is not itself evil, mind you) to suppress those in many parts of the Middle East, but Israel is a Theocracy. Every Jew is granted the right to Israeli citizenship, while dissidents are not granted that opportunity - Muslims fleeing persecution from neighbouring countries - and the courts abide by Jewish law. While I do not criticise Israel solely for this, the government is intolerant and the military ruthless. However, I will clarify---my problem with Islam isn't really the historical contributions of its culture. TBH, they are kinda irrelevant 1000 years later.
Wow, "contributions are irrelevant a thousand years later." You know how blatantly stupid that sounds!? If the Brits did not colonise the Americas 400 years ago, the world would not be the same, would it? As a side point though, many of the contributions of Islamic culture from that time period were actually made by Jews and Christians living within their borders---not Muslims.
What idiocy!? What about all the Muslim doctors and scientists. You know how foolish you sound? Now that there are practically no more Jews and Christians living in Muslim countries due to persecution
That is true, not because of Islam itself, however, but because leaders use it to persecute., it makes sense that Islam's contributions have come to a complete halt
Wow, just wow. .
What you said about Islam is true. For a while, the Jews and Christians were far greater enemies than the Jews and Muslims. This true up until the beginning of the 20th century; after which, animosity between Christians and Jews largely subsided.
Again, nonsense. The "buddy" Judeo-Christian ideals nonsense is only prevalent in the US, Europeans are much more divided. In the last 50 years or so, the world has seen an incredible trend in globalization.
Hmm...yes...go on.WIth the communication revolution of cell phones and internet and other stuff, every culture of the world has been brought into direct contact with every other.
Definitely! Continue, please. The fact of the
er is though---there is no major religion like Islam which advocates world domination and abusive treatment of women.
Again, complete and utter nonsense! The religion does not "advocate" such treatment. It is the leaders who controlled/control the countries who have used religion (like the Pope and like King Henry VIII) to persecute others or to further their own interests.
I'll bet you didn't know this, but polygamy (however disgusting and cruel it is) was instituted to protect women. And before you start cracking your fingers to prepare another nonsensical response, read on. You see, during the crusades, thousands of Muslim (and Christian) men died, leaving many women unmarried. In that time, a woman could make nothing of herself if she was not married (this was the case anywhere, not just the Middle East), and rather than uproot an age-old system, Mohammed convinced men to take more than one wife, to protect them. Obviously, the system has been abused beyond belief, and corrupted from its once true intentions, but you must know the history. It does affect the present, or, at the very least, your perception of the present.Christianity, Judaism, and other religions certainly have their shortcomings, but Islam is intrinsically different in its attitude toward those outside the faith.
