You people just want to believe it is racism. Saying that the ideology of Islam is not in keeping with the spirit of the western world is simply not racist.
Since you people have turned a logical discussion into me saying "all Muslims want to destroy America" I shall attempt to clarify again before abandoning this thread and not really bothering to waste my breath (metaphorical of course).
Obviously the vast majority of Muslims don't hate the US, and even fewer are actively attempting to destroy it. It's very difficult however to know who is an ally and who is an enemy.
The guy who attempted to blow up the Reserve Bank in NYC freakin' came here on a student visa. A student visa for god's sake!!!
You guys can twist reality all you want, but the fact remains that Islam has convinced quite a few people that they should attempt to destroy America (again, a small percentage of all Muslims).
I'm very scientific, and the last person to say that someone should be discriminated against based on religion at birth, which is something that you don't even choose, but seriously!!!!! You can't ignore what is going on in the world in order to remain idealistic and see the world that way that it should be.

I'm gonna add: Islam isn't a race, so racism is not the word you are looking for.
EDIT: I would appreciate if someone could quote something I have said implying that I think all Muslims are bad or a threat to this country or something of that sort. It would much appreciated.
EDIT: In general, I am actually supportive of allowing immigration and blending cultures...this is a bit different. The thing with you Narg is: you think about the er very simplistically. You're not getting that there is a middle ground—it's possible to not be a racist, but to still appreciate the fact that Islamic culture clashes with that of America.
And much of what you say is just factually not accurate, if I may say so. You seem to believe that only a very small portion of extremists hate the US. That isn't true. There is much footage of ordinary Muslims (non-violent ones) celebrating September 11 and other terrorist attacks. Not many are insane enough to act on their disdain for America, but many feel it.
History sees clashes of civilization all the time: our clash with the Indians, the clash between Christians and Muslims in the middle ages, and so on.
