Toad I am sure you are not a big fan of "Americans are stupid". I am also sure there are many an uneducated or uncaring person in America or elsewhere that thinks that certain things suck right now. Are you are saying that stupid people and acts are not prevalent in US?

Regarding getting blamed for everything well if you tell me the US is blameless then what is a good proption of the topic about; it is blaming the government for not doing the right thing for its own people?

the thing I hate so much is how noone cares about our military anymore. everyone was backing up our troops 100% through WWII but now they don't give a [poo], and now the guys "in charge" want to get rid of our military because "not having one will not make other people want to attack us" well thats [m'kay] pure and simple if we have no army we r just easy taking for anyone who wants us. The idea is....and this is the rough idea "have a bigger stick than the other guys, so you don't have to use it"

If by "getting rid of the military" you mean making defense budget cuts, then I don't see the problem. We spend more on defense than the next 5-10 countries combined.
Took the time to do some quick calculations, if the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute is to be believed, then we spend more than the rest of the top 20 on defense. (Although I do think the number for China is a bit low)

The defense budget for china has been on the rise but is very low in comparison to the US. If they get in a pinch Russia would back them so why spend the money. As for the money spent in the US on military is ridiculous. If the money was going to improved pay for military personal I would be ok. Yet that is not the case, it goes to everything else. There is a VA hospital that have sat almost empty for years. The care they given is crap. Yet every year politicians pour it on for VA benefits without a thought to how broken it is. Just building a single fighter plan takes 20+ states to build. That way every congressional member gets to go to its constituents and say they brought jobs to them. If you want to see something eye dropping watch what happens when the military tries to cancel a project because it has become pointless. The congressional members throw fits and question the military personal's loyalty to their country. The war in Iraq cost us over 1 trillion dollars. It cost us a few billion to salt Libya with tomahawk missiles. At every turn the costs are insane and have increased at twice the rate of the current inflation. If it was going to military paycheck I would give a crap, but that is not the case.

Remember that China doesn't feel the compulsive need to answer to foreign devils, of any stripe. The institute puts their defense spending at 114B, if I remember correctly. I would estimate it's somewhere between 100-300B.

It's still half to a sixth what we spend. Plus the majority of their equipment was ripped off from the soviets. It is only recently they are making their own advancements.
