[04:30] -SR-Mandalore: That sounds super fair
[04:30] -SR-Mandalore: Do you think other gay couples do that?
[04:30] (SWGO)SWINE*FLU: I reckon so.

Are you sure you aren't the one constantly leaving notes on your own door? I'm sure someone like you get's pretty lonely on Christmas. It's okay Mandy, don't give up hope yet! :whistling:

I think who WD meant when he was speaking of aetheists (correct me if I'm wrong here) are the ones who are so passionate about their own disbelief that they want to force it on others by taking away their ability to express their faith. Its a generalization, for sure, but those are the aetheists the world hears from. They aren't all douchebags any more than all Muslims are terrorists or all Christians are zealots.
It does piss me off, as well, though when public shows of faith like Christmas trees and nativity scenes aren't allowed because some douche aetheist and the ACLU show up and stomp their feet. Nobody is asking them to believe in anything different. I can't figure any way that any of that stuff could be construed as offensive. Anyone can have a merry Christmas regardless of what they believe.
Locally, in Cranston RI, an aetheist student (and the goddamn ACLU) are suing the school system over a "prayer" that has hung in the school forever. It is "offensive" because it starts with "our heavenly father" and ends with "amen". Pay no mind to the fact that the message is about striving academically....

Stupid ACLU. They're actually killing our long term strategy by doing these little [poo] cases about nativity scenes or crosses on a court house or whatever. [m'kay] killing us.

P.S. Who the hell is this captain sparrow guy?

What about the protests (across the Nation) that occurred when Muslims wanted to build a Mosque? Most of the protesters were Christians.

The argument against the Banner in Cranston West High School, is based on the premise that the school is a government funded school (aka public school). Their reason is that a public school should be religiously neutral, not favoring one religion over the other. Sure the ACLU may have gone a little overboard, they could of just asked to make the Banner more religiously neutral instead of just removing it.

If the School should have the (religious) message of the Banner protected, then Muslims should also be able to build their Mosques to freely practice their religion.

Choosing one over the other just seems hypocritical IMHO.

Cheers

LOL!...And Haas is right. What I was aiming at, is the 'traditional' Aetheist, who just doesn't believe in 'anything'. But I do wish the Aetheist was more toward Mandalore's way of thinking. At least you could debate a belief in 'something'.

How so? The atheist has the right of Freedom of Speech to go against it (even Christmas Trees etc.), same as a Christian can go against legal marriage for homosexuals or not letting them serve in the military.

Several Christians keep denying others of their rights (due to their beliefs), yet cry wolf when their own religion/beliefs are attacked/denied the same way.

That is what I was trying to convey, favoring one over the other is just hypocritical. Either, let them both express themselves or not at all.

Also, Christmas Trees were considered Pagan by Americans until around the 1840s. A Cleveland minister almost lost his job in 1851 because he let a Christmas tree in church. Only 1 in 5 Americans had Christmas trees by 1900. By 1920, the Tree became universal in the USA. Several historians say that the original concept of the tradition were used by the Egyptians, Romans and even Pagans. So the original tradition does not have Christian origins.

Cheers

Almost all of Christianity is stolen from the Egyptians but I think we are going a little off topic. Wasn't this about how much of an idiot Rick Perry is? How did we get to this?
