So what if he's 19-20 and has only had positive experiences with vaccines. He's not in the position in his life to make the judgment calls that us parents make. I bet mount Rushmore that when he becomes a parent and has to make those decision and weigh those choices he's gonna feel differently about things. I am 31 and my hubby is 28 and we've both had positive experiences with vaccines. VACCINES that were made DIFFERENTLY in 1981-1990 when both of us had them. Does that mean that we trust the new preservative filled ways of doing things today? OH HECK NO!!! Things change, and not all changes are good are they???

Nonetheless... NO NEWBORN straight out of a healthy uninfected womb should be vaccinated for a SEXUALLY transmitted disease. If the mom has HEP B sure, go ahead. But if the mom was healthy it shouldn't happen. Hep B can NOT be transmitted via breastmilk.

And what is trust partly based upon? Experience. You cannot rule out someone else's experience just because their's differ from yours. And please, if you're going to come up an example, at least make sure it actually makes sense and doesn't allude to your conspiracy mindset.

Ok, this is the last time I indulge you... you sound like an idiot. So I am through with you. Valla con Dios.

All I'm getting from your hot-headed replies are that:

1. Being a parent magically makes you omniscient.
2. Being middle-aged magically makes you know more about every subject than a twenty year old, regardless of whether he/her has studied the subject intensely in university.

Edit: Also, I didn't realize that you could deduce that I was a spoiled brat from my limited remarks around here, all of which say nothing about my real life or struggles.

I might sound like an idiot according to you, but at least I'm not an idiot, like you. If you can't support your own arguments without resorting to child-like antics and name-calling, contrary to the so called "elder" you claim you are, then please go trust a Nazi scientist and take a "shower."

Nite, I wasn't disagreeing with you. There is nothing wrong with taking extra precaution when it comes to the welfare of family members. I just don't agree with saying that the people who research and make these vaccines are doing so to intentionally harm others. That's all.

You realize it's impossible to hold a sound, mature argument with these people, right? Or perhaps you haven't been here long enough. Don't even waste your time with long, thought-out responses. They'll get you nowhere unless you're a neoconservative, conspiracy-theory-loving cynic who constantly believes the world is doomed to Armageddon in a few years.

Ok, it's the next day, and I'm well rested. I want to apologize for the name calling, Outrider. It wasn't very "elder" like and that's not how I normally function. But you are pissing on my leg about "scientists creating vaccines that kill"... I never said that. My whole post was about "TRUST", nothing more.. nothing less. You failed to understand where I was going with it... and you got kinda' butthurt because I said Sam is just a kid in his late teens. Guess what? Not everything that we learned in school has relation to real life. And taking a class at the university for a year does NOT make you a freakin' expert all of the sudden. There is a thing called "life experiences" and I guarantee you that someone that is over 30-40 yrs old, has them.. in bigger quantities than a first year college kid.
