Totally rational

Ok, if you keep wearing out the front two tires on your car, do you keep buying new tires? I personally would have the alignment checked.

If you have puddles in your bedroom floor when it rains, do you get more buckets? I would get the roof fixed.

When you have high blood pressure and are overweight, do you take more medicine for it? I would try losing some weight.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

This is where your thought proces is irrational. Guns don't shoot by themselves. They need someone to pull the trigger. That someone is the one making a choice. Again if there is a rash of killings where people are getting killed by baseball bats. Are we going to put a ban on them? Then hold the bat makers responsible? You can't blame the tool for the problem you blame the people creating the problem.

I see you saying that the problem is anything BUT guns. I've said before eliminating all guns is an unreachable goal, much like trying to make it stop raining. But I do feel that part of the solution is better regulation of guns and bans on certian types if guns. Bringing race into the discussion is grasping at straws and stupid. Ask yourself this what good is insisting on background checks when criminals can get around them by going to a gun show?? Make that illegal. The issues about high capacity clips or magazines has been brought up. Why can't those be made smaller. Do we only fix part of the roof? Or wouldn't you agree we should close all the holes in the roof?

And guns are not the same as bats. Have you ever heard of a mass killing by someone with a baseball bat. Seems to me that person would be easier to take down. I'll face a maniac with a bat over a maniac with a rifle carrying 60 rounds of ammunition any day.

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Vice President Joe Biden's advice for self-defense: Buy a shotgun, not an assault rifle.

Biden, who is spearheading a push for President Barack Obama's gun control proposals, dispensed this off-the-cuff tip for protecting life and property during an online question-and-answer session on Facebook on Tuesday.

The vice president has not one but two shotguns that he says he keeps in a locked cabinet at his house in his home state of Delaware, and he has given his wife, Jill, explicit instructions on how to deal with any would-be intruder.

"We live in an area that's wooded and secluded," Biden said. "I said, Jill, if there's ever a problem just walk out on the balcony here ... put that double-barreled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house." (Obamacare will take care of her wrecked shoulder later).

"I promise you whoever's coming in is not gonna," Biden said. "You don't need an AR-15 (assault rifle). It's harder to aim. It's harder to use and in fact you don't need 30 rounds to protect yourself."

"Buy a shotgun," he said, lowering his voice almost to whisper.

(Of course the intruder outside the house has 28 more rounds than you dumbass!)

Then you're not getting it. You're not getting it at all. Not even a little bit, but that's cool, to each his own and that's what makes this a great country.

Since you keep repeating this argument despite its huge flaws then FINE I will agree with you. Next time a Newtown-like incident occurs (20+ kids killed) with a baseball bat, we should ban it. Also nobody is holding gun-makers responsible. I know that the corporations fear that hypothetical, but it's not at all a reality.

As for stopping government handouts, YOU go look those kids in the face and tell them that they can't eat now because you don't want them to have handouts. Sure the parents might be [poo] in some cases, but it's going to be innocent people who suffer from that. It's a cultural problem, not a government problem and no amount of government action or inaction is going to change that.
