I didn't create this topic, and I think it's fair to point out prejudice mainly as a means of fighting it.

A VERY inappropriate place to use that word to describe me or anyone else I might add! I am NOT predudiced, I am FAIR and always have been!

I find it ironic that you call this prejudiced, but when christian symbols are attacked in your own country, oh well. "We don't want to offend Muslims" but it's a different story with Chritians or Jews. I am puzzled by this.

If as Duel indicates Islam has the same predujice against other faiths then you have to start thinking how is France acting so badly? The French government is not saying you cannot follow your faith only that you cannot wear certain garments in public places. The French are not burning holy Islamic books, preventing worship or banning the faith of Islam.

France has asked for a vote on this subject and the vote has come back in the favour of the majority, it was debated and the common people do not want concealment of the face in public.

How many concessions should a sovereign state make before it is deemed as acting in a fair and just manner in order to appease a minority?

And the above was not a garment it was a Symbol of someone's faith but the attendants cannot wear this, is that fair?

Religous freedom or lack of it:

John Stuart Mill says "no you" in massive block capitals.

A state shouldn't be sovereign at all. Hobbes is a massive noob.

Guys - I didn't call anyone anything.

I called a view prejudiced, not a person, and I do think there's a very big difference.

I have respect for every single person here, some of the views expressed here I don't really respect, but all of the people I do.

I respect everyone's view who have participated in this debate, it does not mean I have to agree with you (including you Corpse) ...and there are no ill feelings towards any of you including anyone of a different religion, just pointing out the differences in how we perceive the minority/majority and the fact that not all things and people are treated equally in this world we live in.

Minas, I don't think anyone is ignoring you or your comments (see I responded) so don't take offence if someone does not reply, it does happen.

This ban is mostly about the preservation of French culture and their way of life. I think if we all take a look at the law this isn't just a ban on headscarves it has to do will all religious symbols whether Muslim, Christian etc. Again, these kind of laws prevail in the Middle East like Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Eygpt etc. So if it's ok in those countries then why can't France prevail in doing the same? The reality is we all have predjuices and biases(sp). The moment someone's expressions an opionion whether it's in support or dissent one's predjuices and bias' come out.

I agree with many of the valid criticisms of countries like Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Pakistan, etc.

Personally, I don't like any religion and wish they would all dissipate and eventually disappear.

I still reject the argument of "this other country does something worse, so we're justified in doing xyz..."
