God, I hate it when people argue that money for this or that could be used elsewhere. How much are we talking about? $10 billion? $20 billion? That's such a miniscule amount that we shouldn't even consider it when debating gun control. Don't you understand? That's less than .01% of our government spending! Do you honestly think that will put a dent in our taxes? Some other agency will just come along and ask for that money. The only possible way to shrink our government spending is to focus on ending entitlement programs. Instead, the public likes to complain about these little expenses that add up to virtually nothing, which only blinds us from the real problem at hand.

I'm fine with you being against gun control, but don't make it a money issue.

Just give the money to NASA instead. That would around double their operating budget. Long-term, proper space exploration is going to be a lot more valuable (though at least it's in reach of private corporations now).

Well I was going to qoute you Samo, but my phone won't cooperate. Anyway, the type of thinking in your post is exactly what leads to blown budgets. As someone who has trimmed budgets in the private sector, I can tell you that it's the little things that add up to huge savings.

Hey Samonuh, when you start working and paying a note for your house and car, insurance for health, home and automobile, food and utilities, clothing for a family of 4, expenses for your children's education, and taxes for everything you purchase everyday.....come back and tell us how "miniscule" our taxes would be. You have some nerve coming here and talking as if you know so much about life. You are clueless beyond belief about what life is like for anyone here. Some of us here are barely hanging on to what we have, a "miniscule" tax hike could be all some of us need to be destitute. We don't need a 18 year old telling us anything about goverment and taxes, as if you have a wealth of experience about life.

I'm gonna be more extreme -- come back when you're having to cut into your own personal budget because you're having to start supporting your parents and younger siblings because they can't cover their own bills because the economy sucks so much their business is going under water.

Agreed, although I understand Panama's frustration with Samonuh: he's 18, and has very few responsibilities which qualify him to judge our government's and the American's peoples decisions and values. I'm not saying I do either, as I'm just a teenager too.
