Well, for one, it contains a massive amount of implied sexism.

:dots: by that I meant, you can believe what you want (man/woman relationship), and respect other people's wishes to be homosexuals. Don't put it out of context.

I don't approve of their actions, but I let them be as they like... they have free choice of being like they want to.

Absolutely wrong. But how do you know it's wrong? You assume it's wrong, I assume it's right. Between most gay men's Lisping, limp wristed body language/posture, feminine squeaky voices and overly emotional drama in how they converse or get excited over stuff screaming like women, it's hard to think otherwise. It's all over TV now. They know anything and everything about fashion for women more than men's fashion! Reality TV shows like Rupal's drag race features gays dressing like women and really feeling comfortable in their skin being as feminine as possible.

Only one? I only implied a 'theory' that involves 'spiritual sexuality'. I don't expect an atheist to understand or even accept it, but it's only meant as one 'possibility'. Sexual desire exists between men vs women and same sex. But 'why' does it exist at all? Phermones?, appealing body parts?, physiological hunger and a need for sexual contact with...a guy, or a girl? Who to choose...Hmmmm...am I feeling like a man or a woman right now? If I'm a dude...why would I want to be with another dude? It's not natural. Men cannot produce babies having anal sex together, anymore than to women using a dildo can. So there must be some spiritual connection here. And I believe the 'spirit' is the true essence of the person...not the person's body. It's just a possible way to explain the attraction between same sex individuals.

Yeah, and one time I saw Jersey Shore and it really made it clear how all people in New Jersey are obnoxious wastes of space that barely deserve to breathe. Are you listening to yourself, WD? There are plenty of gay guys that are, y'know, guys that like to have sex with dudes. It's pretty [m'kay] up to stereotype an entire subset of the population because you see [poo] on TV. And for the record, if it was ever "all over TV" that was maybe ten years ago. Now, people are a lot less dickish about that sort of thing. Being transsexual is a lot different from being homosexual.

I think that gay men have increased amounts of estrogen, and lesbian women have increased amounts of testosterone. Im not 100% positive if that is why, but it makes sense to me. And maybe it isnt the way nature intended, but i dont think the population is going to run low anytime soon.

Last I checked, guys that like to have sex with 'dudes'..are 'gay', so I don't know what you're getting at there. It is on TV more these days, because it has become much more accepted.
And you think I get my observations from just TV?! Plleeeeasee! It's everywhere these days. Downtown NY and other large cities during visits I've had over the years, New Orleans, Key West, and some foreign countries even. I don't care if people are gay, or dudes that are acting all feminine...actually, it's amusing to me. I live in San Francisco in the late 80's. I saw that stuff all over back then! I just used TV reality as an example.

Now that is a good argument, and may contribute to the 'why' people are gay.

Not really. Hormone exposure in the womb is hypothesized to affect sexual orientation, but hormone levels in adults are not a major factor.

So... because one particular gay stereotype and/or cultural movement involves feminine men, you assume all homosexuals want to be the other gender? I shouldn't even have to explain the problems here.

Simply put, sexual desire exists because people with sexual desire are more likely to reproduce. This is the reason for all human traits. How exactly homosexuality fits into this isn't well understood - possibly it's a side effect of genes that are useful for something else.

The fact that you are attracted to women and not men does not generalize to "all men are attracted to women and not men." In fact, that statement is obviously false. The problem you're trying to solve with your "spirit duality" hypothesis is one which you created with a false generalization.

Oh, and by the way, your hypothesis completely fails to explain bisexuals, asexuals, and straight people who actually think or wish they were the other gender.

I was going to post a big thing, but you already said that you live in the late 80's, so you said it way better than I could have. Have fun.

(I could not have possibly missed out on that, I would have been ashamed)

Darth Crater wrote:My views about biblical literalism should be obvious by this point. Same-sex marriage passes the most important moral test ("does it hurt anyone?") with flying colors; the Bible is just being used to justify disgust and bigotry. Much the same way it was used to oppose interracial marriage, in fact.

One scripture that can be used very literally is Acts 10:34,35

At this Peter opened his mouth and said: “For a certainty I perceive that God is not partial, but in every nation the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.

The Bible is not just a book about morals that affect others, but also about moral standards set by God. Yes Jesus gave the commandment to love your neighbor as yourself, that was the second of 2 commandments. The first was to love God with your whole heart, mind, and soul.

Yes the bible is being used by some to justify hate and bigotry, but it's being used incorrectly.
