WD-40 wrote: Yes...I consider myself BETTER than Liberals, because I am a 'Patriot'!! I give a dam about America. I don't care who's in office or what party they are affiliated, as long as they are pro-America and Pro-Democracy. I'm not unreasonable, I'm just realistic.

Jango Fred, I 'was' going to ignore writing any further regarding this heated debate of differing opinions as of June 13th, because It seems everyone on the planet knows more of how Americans should think than the Americans do. But since you lowered yourself to the point of name-calling, due to the fact you are too lazy not to READ the 'entire' posts (ie quit skimming, and reading only keywords), I felt I needed to respond. I at least respect (non-American) Kren's opinion, even though he did hammer me, HE at least put some thought into it as did Yanoda. READ my apology, as I had stated, Politics are a hot button for me and many others in the world.
I 'regret' saying I'm better than Liberals...Just in case you skimmed past that last sentence, I said "I REGRET SAYING I AM BETTER THAN LIBERALS!!!"...DO YOU COPY THAT FRED?..OVER. I realize all to well that I've chosen (for now) to participate in a forum that is very anti-God and very Liberal. I suppose I'm wasting my time. But I like SWGO...at least the non-political non-religious side of it.
Now, Jango Fred, are we cool now?
Now, Matthews Dad, and Matt-Chicago, Dad, Duel...even you, also made good points. I don't agree the 'political thinking' of progressives of yesteryear, matches modern day progressives. That's what I meant by John F Kennedy was like today's Conservatives, and that Conservatives of today are more Liberal than those of the past.
And yes Kren, I was well aware of how long 'One Nation under God' vs 'One Nation Indivisible' has been around...you missed the point, in that God was everywhere long before it was included in the pledge. It is just my hope that we as a Nation...as a WORLD, NEVER put God second in our lives as Americans, and in dealing with each other as Nations. I suppose we need that balance of Left and Right. I know, I know...too much Conservatism can be as bad as too much Liberalism in the Political arena.
Bottom line, we all have an opinion, and none of us will agree on everything. Debating is good. That's where we learn new things and get fresh and different perspectives. I've read everything that everyone has written... And save Fred's name-calling, I respect every word of it.

Duel of Fates wrote:If you want to go by definitions regarding Democrat, Liberal, Republican, and Conservative, you might want to look into Progressives. The Democratic Party has been infected with it as well as the Republican Party. It has flourished in the Dems, but has a harder time in the Reps because most Republicans are conservative to start with. The Progressives started out in the early 1900's and our country has not been on the right track since. This bickering between Left and Right, is a smoke screen. Progressives are like the AIDS virus. Once you identify them, they change their image and their names. First they started out Progressive, then became Liberals, then Democrats, then back to Progressive (once most of the people forgot the original ones). That is the cancer of America. Once you diagnose it, you can deal with it.

LOL - I'm to the left of progressives and think things like overtime pay, weekends, social security, medicare, civil rights, women getting the right to vote, and stuff like that were positive changes, all championed by evil progressives.

Social Security-----------------Socialism
Medicare----------------Socialism
Lets also thank our progressive fore fathers for Segregation in the Military during the Wilson Administration.
Thank them also for the creation of the Federal Reserve.
Thank them also for the 16th amendment, Income Tax.
Thank them for the 17th amendment, pretty much taking the States representation in the Senate and throwing it out the window.
Let us also thank the progressives for ideas like Eugenics and Racial Superiority.
Let us not forget Prohibition.

The list goes on and the Progressive Web sites love to show it off. They push for even more government regulations in a time when you need more red tape to build a garage onto your house than you do for applying for disability payments.

Discuss and debate all you want and will never get "name -calling" from me...until it becomes personal. Attack "The beliefs"....not "The person because of their beliefs" It's all cool.

Really?!? You should practice what you preach then Fred. Show where in the entire thread before you called me a 'dic#head', that I attack you 'personally'! And show me where I even mentioned you by name! I attacked a belief, and my beliefs were attacked in return, but it was civil until you chose to use an infantile insult. Attack my beliefs Fred, I'm okay with that. Debate me, insult Conservatives, I'm okay with that as well because I WANT to hear your thoughts so I can learn more from others. If I choose to accept anyones opinion is up to me....I may not have heard someone's particular insight on a subject, and I might like it, even if they are not on the same page as me politically or otherwise.
For the record, I also mentioned in a previous post, that I 'don't care' who is in office (conservative or Liberal) as long as they are good for the Country. And due to that philosophy, I've been thinking for about two years now to re-register as an 'Independent', although I lean Conservative. Maybe I will before the elections this year.

Lets look at it mathematically, A>B, B=C therefore A>C

"I (A) consider myself better than liberals (B)" was your statement. I(C) am a liberal (B). Hence, YOU(A) are better than me(C). I took that as a personal attack stating that I was no good simply based on the fact that I am a liberal. Are you disputing that that was your intent? If that was not your intent.... this is a perfect example of the communication barrier inherently existent in text-based discussions. If that was your intent, from my perspective, there is reason my feeling of defense. If there is one thing I am perfectly capable of doing is pointing the high-powered microscope of perception on myself and I will be the first to tag myself as a hypocrite if that is the case. In this case, my perception was not that of a hypocrite. I truly felt attacked by your comment. If you do not feel as if I am entitled to these feelings based on my explanation...then I guess I will just have to concede that this will end this in disagreement. As for the "Infantile response"....you've never experienced an increase in aggressiveness due to what you perceived as an insult?

To contribute "constructively (or at least, not negatively)" to the political conversation (since I am being accused of not doing so to this point, and I am not disputing this fact), My political beliefs are: "I don't care what you believe, I don't care what Duel, or MD or Dad or Matt C believe and Haas... don't even get me started on THAT bozo  , I only care what I believe"..... hence I will never really agree or disagree with anyone's views.

During my heated "I am better than Liberals" response, I certainly meant that to remain in the 'Political' Arena, NOT the 'Personal' Areana. It was never meant as a personal attack. There's no A, B or Cs about it. Nuff said
