Nylon is a copolymer of a diamine and a dicarboxylic acid, but it can also be composed of just one monomer if the monomer has both a caboxyl and amine group on it. What sort of molecules have both of those functional groups? Amino [m'kay] acids, which are the basic units used to synthesise proteins in the body. That's right. We're made of [m'kay] nylon.
