North Carolina Trying to Ban Climate Models

As the title states, a Bill in North Carolina is being proposed that would not allow scientists to predict accelerated levels of sea level rise. This means that current scientific prediction of about 1 meter (~40 inches) of sea level rise for the next 100 years is dumbed down to 20 centimeters (~8 inches).
Here are 2 articles:

I saw an article about that the other day, it's developers and their lobbyists pushing this so they can continue building near the shore even though the areas may be underwater in the not too distant future.

I foresee a showdown with the insurance industry, who are already using climate models for risk assessments.

.........................

What in the actual [m'kay] is wrong with these people?

They're trying to make it illegal to do a specific kind of math. What is this I don't even argh.

Was it not bad enough that NC constitutionally endorsed discrimination with the gay marriage mess earlier?

Hold on, attempting to contact a time traveler to prevent myself from being born in that state, to remove any possible link to this infinite stupidity.

North Carolina; where you can marry your cousin, but not your gay cousin...
I'm not surprised they're outlawing math :whistling:

Nothing good can come out of this. Politcians have no business hindering science. What's next?...banning 7 day forecasting of the weather?

I think we should really stop trying to predict hurricanes and earthquakes and [poo]. I mean do you even understand just how much knowing when one of those is coming screws with your head? Totally ruins any peace of mind you could possibly have, and it makes the cost of insurance go up anyway if you're in a high risk area. Yep, better just get rid of that [poo].

what the [m'kay] carolina you dumb

I would much rather deal with earthquakes then a season of hurricanes and tornadoes.

Being that I am from North Carolina, I would like to say something. I have some beach front real estate for sale, make me an offer.

I would like to say that the politicians (mostly liberals) who have had control of this state for so many years have left us in such a deep financial hole that we will go along with almost anything to pay the bills right now. It's a shame because it's about the best state to live in for location and weather that you can find. We have quick access to beaches and mountains and usually get all four seasons of weather without getting too much of anything. Just too much piss poor planning for future industry from years ago. We held on to textiles and tobacco for way too long.
