Newton, CT Shooting

Postby NiteRunner81 » Fri Dec 14, 2012 10:06 pm

Its a sad day today. Just two days ago we had a shooting at my favorite mall.. one I did my Christmas shopping at as a kid, and now today we have an ELEMENTARY school shooting.

Please before we get into the NRA/gun control discussion to remember, there are parents planning funerals, instead of celebrating the holidays with their babies.

I saw many "brave" people joking about this tragedy online today. I wanted to gouge my eyes out. Somebody please restore my faith in humanity.

Paul Harvey said it best: "With self government, must come self discipline." If you expect to be given responsibility, you must act responsibly. This is true your entire life. There can be no exceptions. So if you carry a gun my friend, you had better be one of the most damn trustworthy people I had ever meet. Otherwise, you have no business owning or having access to one.

I have just learnt of this a short while ago, this is very sad indeed. As a parent myself my thoughts go out to the families and people that this has affected.

An excellent quote. I won't delve into the uselessness of attempted gun control as Nite suggested, as Prohibition was a precursor of the same result we would see. Guns don't kill people. People kill People. It's seems a damn horrid shame that the wack jobs that could even conceivably do this evil deed are given the breath of Life in the first place. If they value Life so hatefully, then Why cannot they just END their Life without taking the Lives and Futures away from the innocent victims they've killed first?!? Makes me sick! My heart feels so much sorrow for the families involved.

Tragedy has struck our nation, and though we must grieve, we will move forward. We must learn from this experience to shape our policy in the future. Invest in our mental care structure, tighten gun control laws, and always remember that life is a most sacred thing.

My heart goes out to all those affected, meaning the entire nation - sadly, this catastrophe was not averted.

What a horrific and cowardly thing to do. My thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected.

This is truly evil. I had to turn off the tv and radio. I have a child just starting elementary school, and one in middle school. When I heard the news, I thought "this kind of evil can happen anywhere." I was sick to my stomach and it will be awhile before I can force myself to face this tragedy without a tear coming to my eye.

Please don't forget the Portland, OR Mall shooting. A midwife was murdered, a midwife with a lot of patients who are also affected by the first act of tragic violence.
