New Homepage

As I have said in another post, I was reading through old threads and... I could be wrong but I feel that the forums were a lot more active in the past. Since I always see the same people here I thought it would be a good idea if we could do something to attract new members. Most of the people here have been around since 2009 but those who came after (such as myself) are very few. I have the feeling that gamespy will soon cancel the listing service for swbf2 and this community is only alive because of this game.

I think that we could try to modernize the homepage and add a new subsection in the forums for SWTOR, Republic Commando, Star Wars 1313 and BF3 so that we can give something to talk about to the new members.

I was thinking of giving the new homepage a new look similar to the top area of the gamespot.com homepage (I personally think the moving windows with information is nice). For example, the website http://www.webs.com is a userfriendly way of creating new websites for free. I'm specially interested in this:

Two of those games are not in existence yet and one of them never will be, SWTOR is already being done by Nite on a separate forum, and Republic Commando is even more dead than Battlefront 2. This game is dying, and that's the reason why there aren't many new people. This won't help, i'm afraid.

the other games are dead... when 1313 comes out I plan on addressing that being brought into our fold.

I would like to get a chatbox that is similar to the one that JOG uses...

I don't think a new one is the answer, maybe re-vamping the current one would be more efficient.

btw -- I can't wait till 1313 comes out :D

what do you mean by re-vamping? Starting a new forum? and yeah, I imagine it will have a nice multiplayer feature.

I thought SuperS@murai's new logo design that he did recently was pretty cool. Nothing got done about it though:


As far as revamping the site, gmrz did a similar thing not too long ago. Didn't make a massive difference to the number of players joining though. I've grown to like our current interface anyways

and I like our forum interface. I just think we could get a new homepage.

When you say homepage I think of the one you see before you go to the forums http://www.swgohome.com ... yes, I would like to implement SuperS@M's forum header, I think it would add some freshness.

New forums are probably out of the picture due to Matt being the only one able to implement that and he still has a newborn at home.

exactly what I mean. If supersamurai has something better, then someone should add it. Not a complete new forum, but only a makeover of the http://www.swgohome.com ....
