I have a gun problem... need suggestions

So wcocaboose and I are dealing with an issue with my brother in regards to guns... When we're staying at my parents ranch we stay in the trailer house he stays in (he doesn't own it he just has a room there - it belongs to my parents)... We only ask one thing and one thing only of him, and that is that he doesn't keep any loaded guns in the trailer. Well, he fails to respect that and the last two times we've been down there (my birthday and Christmas) he's left loaded rifles in the living room. My parents are tired of hearing about the issues and fail to step in but WCO and I think this is far too important of an issue to let slide.

Ideas, suggestions, wanna come over and smack him for me??

accidentally pick up the rifle, aim it at the ceiling, and accidentally shoot wildly

his [m'kay] fault

I can think of a few reasons to keep loaded firearms in the house. I have a few loaded in different areas of my house right now.

I guess the biggest question is your brother in his right mind? Does he tend to have irrational thoughts?

Does he hunt? Perhaps its so he can shoot the critters quicker. I know if I lived out in the country, my rifle would be loaded 24/7 during deer season. (its already loaded most of the day during the season anyways...)

Perhaps its for protection... depending on where you live.

As far as I know there is no active hunting season right now. Also, he has two of his own rifles unloaded in the trailer in his bedroom. The problem is he keeps swiping my dad's and taking them to the trailer.

Protection -- its such a small podunk desolate place, everyone loves him.

Right mind -- that has been debatable lately. We did also discover him using drugs recently..

Ah...big problem them. Take the guns and lock em up tight. (preferably when he isn't there to cause a confrontation)

I concur with Son's line of thought.

The local police department probably provides free locks for guns as most do. Hit them up or but a couple at Walmart if you have to. Then you can lock them while you're there and unlock them when you leave. If that doesn't fly (and it wouldn't with me), then I would find a Holiday Inn where you can feel nice and safe.

I think I'm gonna get some trigger locks and start locking his guns and give my dad the keys for said locks.. that way the issue can be dealt with head on... My dad is equally frustrated with the situation and my mom is just throwing her hands in the air going "leave me out of it".

My parents have probably 4-5 guns for every person there (when boose, tank, and I are there)....
