There’s no guarantee this crisis won’t escalate, especially given the precedence of Russia’s invasion of Georgia in 2008. That crisis was started by Russia, and ended with it attempting to annex part of a former Soviet Union territory, much like they're trying to do here it seems.




Vladimir Putin has previously referred to the break up of the Soviet Union as the biggest geopolitical disaster of the 20th century. When will he accept that it has ended and just drop Russia's incessant big bullying bear policy?

I think Putin wants to show the world that Russia is still a super power and it wants more influence in the area. I'll have to read a bit more about the area, but oil is also a reason Russia wants more influence in the region.

Yeaaahhhhh baby! Just went to Kiev about 2 months ago. Great place! Hope they win Democracy away from that POS Prez they had. However, Ukraine is a great industries country that Russia will death grip. Should be interesting.

putin already invaded ukraine (even though they won't admit it)... but you are right. The U.S will not get involved.
