So this pretty accurately sums up my reaction to Windows 10...Cortana looks amazing, and despite being a stalwart Chrome user, I may even give Edge a try. I've reserved a slot for the upgrade but I've been on the waiting list for about 2 weeks. The only bad things I've heard about WinX are privacy issues, and those are all fixable by adjusting the settings. Who else is getting it?

I reserved my copy on Thursday and received it yesterday (Saturday). Haven't really messed with it, so I won't give a thumbs up or down quite yet..but so far, so good.

I'm debating getting it. What do you think it's like compared to Windows 7? I hate 8, is it similar to that?

One of the better comparisons I could find. http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/review/opera ... w-3595035/

Thanks Shadow. Interesting read. Probably will end up getting it- it is free. I'm glad they changed that hideous start menu from 8

The Win8 start menu is my favourite part, honestly: it's very efficient [more so than the desktop], very customisable [more than the desktop], and you can compulsively organise it if you're like me  .

Windows 10 is okay. I upgraded from 7, but I still prefer Windows 7. For the Windows 10 start menu, I replaced it with Classic Shell, to get the Win7 start menu back. Windows 7 used about 53 gigs on my 64 gig ssd, but Win 10 only uses about 40 gigs of my ssd.

So I am presently sticking with Win10 for now, but I still prefer Win7, and may go back, but in no hurry, as everything seems to work okay in Win10 for now.

Well, a nice lad at the Windows store showed me a way to download Windows 10 (free, legal, licenced, and from Microsoft) without having to wait on the waiting list...you can find it here at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softwar ... /windows10 . I downloaded it, installed it, and liked it...at first. Then I realised that the new start menu was MUCH less efficient than the Windows 8,1 start menu, and Google Chrome only launched in the Desktop version (not the app version, and I love the app version), and, finally, that one of my specialised sound design programs did not work in WinX. So, I reverted back to 8,1. We'll see what happens in 6 months or so, when all the compatability problems are fixed.

Well, realizing that this thread started with a quote about my Penis, my first thought was 'I hope it doesn't digress any further' since I was a 'bit tipsy' when I wrote that. :whistling: That being said, I haven't downloaded it yet, but if it has better security protocols, that would interest me. Otherwise, the desktop I have is good.
