You know what's missing from the new games these days? The social aspect. The sense of community that the private servers allowed us to create. SWGO embodied that aspect. And in their infinite wisdom, the gods that be deemed the private servers that allowed this sense of community to die. Shameful, really. I don't know why, but as I logged on here tonight, I was thinking back to how active this place used to be, and how bright and thriving (and nerve-wracking) it was at times. Seems as if it was light-years ago. I guess it was...

Gamers got what we wished for. In the early 2000s we wanted gaming to be mainstream and now that it's happened I kind of miss my tightly bound communities and guilds. Most games don't require any grouping of any sort to complete because they don't want consumers to actually lose at any point and give them a bad review or stop buying games from them. So not only is the social aspect of gaming mostly gone but so is the risk vs reward dynamic.

It's missing from a lot more than games!

Eve online has a pretty great community, knowledge however is not free!

New and improved is not always better. I still have people ask me if I am the same Jedi Power who played on the original BF1 & BF2 because I still sport the SWGO tags.

I have to 100% agree the community that we have here was built-up from like-minded people meant a hive of activity and interaction, I hope at some point in the future the route gaming takes will be able to incorporate more of this however time will tell however I suspect it won't be like what we were all accustomed to....fond memories and aside from some idiot players that frequented the server/forums damn good times!
