Yes they had to bring whales back from the 21st century.

Actually for the movie the image was doctored to show the water filled higher and you'll also notice that they added the San Francisco skyline in the background. the aquarium is actually 120 mi south of SF not 10 mi north of it like the movie says

edit: Actually i'm not 100% sure. The third picture reminded me of the bank robbery scene but there are a lot of details that are different.
