A thousand times this. One of the best AV suites out there. Norton? Screw that expensive [poo], it's total crap. MSE is free with a legal copy of windows, and gets the job done.

[m'kay] wrote:Also, SpyBot Search and Destroy is pretty good against spyware and malware and [poo], so you should grab that along with whatever other AV you get.

This too.

This. Also a specific anti-malware program, if you want. But for sure, install an ad blocker onto your browser (you may need to stop using IE, but you should be doing that anyway).

Oh yeah, heh. Get Chrome and Adblock Plus, or Firefox and AdBlock Plus. Drop Internet Explorer like it's a Twilight book.

I do have Spy Bot as a secondary AV..it's actually recommended by Immunet....but isn't Spy Bot just for scanning? I mean, it doesn't quarantine viruses in real time like most AV's, right? I used to have MSE way back and I was told by some dude at a computer repair shop that I should go with Avast (which did the same thing as AVG, CPU @ 100%). That's why I settled with Immunet, which does well, but as I mentioned, scanning takes hours. I want to thank all of you guys for the help. I will try MSE again. I will check on your suggestion Vishy, before I do MSE.
Ps. Porn is for single, lonely and pathetic dudes...I got a woman.

I've probably had what....maybe 4 viruses on my system in the 3-4 years. What are you guys doing? I regularly check my system with Avira Antivir, Microsoft Security Essentials, and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. I also block most all ads and run 64-bit Windows. If you would make these upgrades and use a good firewall protected modem/router, you shouldn't HAVE any problems.

Thanks Haas. Now I have to ponder on which antivirus to download...any suggestions on the best free antivirus? I have Immunet 3.0. I do like the fact that it uses less resources (it's a cloud based program), but running a scan on my comp takes hours...I hate that. I had AVG before, but something about that program made my comp's CPU to max out (100% CPU usage), usually when I played Battlefront. Two maps then the damn game would get stuck on the loading of the next map. I had to Cntrl-Alt-Delete to get out of the game.

I use Kaspersky, but it's not free. But it also doesn't screw with your memory and processing like Norton does. You can turn Kaspersky off while playing if you want, then easily boot it up again afterwards. It really doesn't hurt gameplay if you leave it on. Remember, just cause somethings free, it doesn't mean it's good. Probably download other crap that'll slow your computer down too getting free stuff.
