It seems like Dice really wants to do justice to the Star Wars original trilogy.

Some of the early game footage looks absolutely awesome.

I don't mind if it takes 10 years to develop. As long as it does the franchise justice.

"To be honest, I'd expect nothing less from DICE than to have such accurate appearance, models, sounds, etc. What really m@tters is how the game feels to play, and keeping all the things that fans loved so much in the previous Battlefront games. To this day I still play SWBF2 online and I have yet to get bored of it. I've recently been playing Battlefield a lot, and when I go and play swbf2 after playing Battlefield, it feels so weird to play, and I can never really put it into words why. The SWBF games that Pandemic made have something incredibly unique about them that no other game I've ever played has had. THIS is what DICE has to capture in the new Battlefront, not just intense detail to please the senses. THIS is what will make the new Battlefront successful, and please the fans that have been waiting over a decade for this game.

Needless to say, I'm quite disappointed that once again they've only given us a measly little teaser. On the bright side, at least this (hopefully) means that they're really trying not to rush it."

I have a bit of experience with game design. Realistically, adding more staff to a project can only help so much. If (for example) they pulled the entire Battlefield: Mercenaries or Whatever team and stuck them on SWBF:DICE... it probably wouldn't come out much sooner. There's even a possibility of taking longer to finish, and being worse.

This is not to defend EA's general strategy in any way - they're a major player in the fractal failure that is the triple-A industry, and you're absolutely right that going for markets other than "people already playing CoD" is a good idea. (In practice they take this to mean "make predatory mobile games," but the original idea is sound.) I'm just not convinced that pulling staff from Battlefield will make that big of a difference.

Actually, adding developers almost always slows things down because you have to get them up to speed.
