SWGO No Force test server?

Postby SWINE FLU » Tue Jun 08, 2010 3:44 pm

I was on SWBF2 today and found a SWGO test No force EU server. I was wondering if this was an official test?

So with all curiosity I took a look. I have to say that a No Force server could be a brilliant server for SWGO. There was hardly any lag for WhiTeShAdoWs or me.

Also, in my opinion, SWGO having a NF server could bring in lots new SWGO server players and members. Seeing as SWGO has a better reputation than the Arrows server we could have lots of players. I enjoyed playing the 10 minutes I had on the server because I had no lag, no Arrows person making strange remarks or a laggy, modded GMRZ server.

There were just two problems I personally had with the server and that's that it had bots and there was a rule breaker or two. Yet, overall I think a No force FFA server for SWGO could be a brilliant idea.

Was this server hosted from Koko's house?

Yes.

PS: I have asked Matt and he said he dont have any issues with me hosting a server. Maybe if you guys find it good Ill keep hosting it.
After all my Quad-Core and my fiber optics sleeps most of the time... I even may make a dedicated home server for this, lol

Right now server is down again.

I must find a fix for an issue I have with this server.
It seems it performs OK for most players, but me. When I join my own server I got terrible video lag...
I used to host servers back when I was running on XP and got no issues. Now I run Win7. I even tried to split the processes of the game and server on different CPU cores... with no success.

I will try to run it from a virtual machine later this week and see if it's better.

It could get SWGO regulars to play No Force. The Arrows regulars are masochists who enjoy being punished by crappy servers.

It is hosted right on my desktop man, it will hardly get any americans to play on it... even some long distance Euros say it's just like american servers...
But is does not hurt to run it as long as I/you do actually want to.

The lag problem is solved. It was due to 25fps I set first, now it's back to the common 20fps and it seems to be OK for me and all players who played there yesterday.
