You really think that enough people are going to sign up to justify a month and a half wait until the tournament actually starts? Sign ups for a week, tournament the week after. That's the absolute maximum time you want for a tourney of this size.

The whole idea of the tournament is that is happens in summer, when people are off school/work. A month and a half wait is ample time for advertisement of the tourney.
