Where did my post go? I'm from the PS2 side of the SWBF2 community at the BFC. I've been playing since March 2007 and I've made most of the serverside mods (no tanks, increased points needed for special classes) that were used on the PlayStation 2.

Edit: I see the approval system now. Strange though in that my post did seem to be approved for a short period then disapproved.

Anyway Star Wars: Battlefront 3 is right around the corner, though after the fiasco that was Battlefield 4 I don't have much confidence. We won't have nearly as much control over our servers as we did with SWBF2 on the PC and even less on the PS4 (assuming it even launches with server renting, it still hasn't come to BF4).

Your post is on the bottom of the last page.

I've been playing SWTOR quite a bit, sure beats SWBF2 in terms of glitching and such things. It's Free to Play for those who want to try it as well.

May fill the gap that SWBF2 will leave until we get the new game, which probably won't have heroes......

Agree, I don't think they are going to put heroes into it.

I also have a feeling they are going to keep control of the servers themselves the way most MMOs work these days (i.e. you join preset matches). I doubt there will be dedicated severs.

That way there won't be those who will be content to just play BF2 instead of getting the new Battlefront. It creates greater interest and sales in the game.

They did the same thing with Star Wars The Clone Wars by ending the show to build for Star Wars Rebels in 2014 and Hasbro has limited the Star Wars action figures so collectors and kids will be hungry for them again when they are released in 2015. Just my two cents.

Hope you're right. I may have to gravitate to a 'Call of Duty' type game if we don't see a suitable BF2 replacement till then.

Tunngle is the best option to continue playing SWBF2. SWBF1 only had a small group of players on the servers daily, and the server shutdown cut it down to less than half that. The three future options are Tunngle, GameRanger, and Openspy. For SWBF1, Tunngle has been the best and most consistent, as you can host servers on it, and see a server list (in your LAN option). Gameranger is good for playing with some of your buddies when you want to host a game yourself on your local PC, but limited to that. Openspy requires someone to run an openspy server, and someone to write and distribute a patch for SWBF2 exe, that anyone who wants to use openspy, would have to install, and is a major headache.

The closest to normal you can get it is to run Tunngle. I would suggest everyone who wants to continue playing the game, download it now, and test it out. Once you install it and run it, you do a search for "battlefront" and you will get a listing for SWBF and SWBF2, and you simply join the SWBF2 group, and you are in the network and you will see any servers or players in the lobby there. Then you start your SWBF2 as normal and then instead of netplay you pick LAN play, and it will list any servers or games hosted.

Some people in SWBF1 tried openspy, but it was buggy and didn't work well or at all for some, and it splintered the remaining SWBF1 players for a while, till it died and went away. Now everyone uses Tunngle.

If you want an idea of what to expect you can visit swbfgamers.com forums (SWBF1 site) and read up more info on Tunngle and the other info.

I very much doubt this was strategic at all. The ~200 player population of the PC and PS2 versions combined is hardly the size of a pin head to EADICE. LucasArts is gone, as is Pandemic. The Master List for SWBF2 has only stayed up this long because for the longest time IGN completely forgot about GameSpy, it is only with Glu buying it that things are changing.

I just read a good book, and I feel better. :punk:

Something, somewhere will come along. Especially after they finish the next movie. New life will be breathed into this calamity. You all will just be a little older.
