When the administration decides whether to continue on past the gamespy shutdown or not, and what method of continuation we'll use we will let the masses know. I plan on speaking to M@tt this week sometime and get his feelings on the matter. Until then we should just hold on to our shorts and let the powers that be think things out...

Cheers!! :th_a017:

I just read a good book, and I feel better. :punk:

Something, somewhere will come along. Especially after they finish the next movie. New life will be breathed into this calamity. You all will just be a little older.

You should read the A Song of Ice and Fire series. So god damn good. Read (listened actually, at work) twice in the past year alone. Starting A Way of Kings by Sanderson soon after finishing a re-read of the Silmarillion.

And I'm not being pessimistic, just being real. The vast majority of the players that still play on your servers aren't really connected outside of the game itself and solely use the server browser. Sure you'll get some, but I'd be extremely surprised to see 20 people active after the server shut down.

[04:29] (SWGO)SWINE*FLU: We'll do it in turns.
[04:30] -SR-Mandalore: That sounds super fair
[04:30] -SR-Mandalore: Do you think other gay couples do that?
[04:30] (SWGO)SWINE*FLU: I reckon so.

I've been playing SWTOR quite a bit, sure beats SWBF2 in terms of glitching and such things. It's Free to Play for those who want to try it as well.

May fill the gap that SWBF2 will leave until we get the new game, which probably won't have heroes......

Same here been playing TOR a lot recently, doing a lot of PVP and now awaiting patch 2.7 which will be out tomorrow including a new huttball map on the planet Quesh. PUG's in PVP can be a pain as u find players who are unskilled, can't be bothered etc however that can make it even a bigger challenge. I am enjoying TOR and it's not everyones game but it does have some great SW content (planets, characters, storyline etc) so I will be sticking with it and most likely be doing so when SWBF3 appears.

I can say I have enjoyed SWBF2 from the day I picked it up, granted there are some clowns who frequent the servers but hey this is gaming so to be expected.

Hopefully there will be a way for it to live a little longer, if not then it's been a blast online with you guys (well most of u :whistling: ). Let's see what transpires next.

If it does end then I am sure a good proportion of us will see each other again via SWBF3 however just because SWBF2 might be on it's way out it does not mean the end for SW Games and SWGO.

Hopefully catch u guys in-game sometime this week.

Regards,

Kren

It's funny, I've taking a break since early January and really haven't missed it. I was going to hop back on in a few weeks and WOOK it up some and then call it quits. I guess I had better hurry up and do that as this will make it official. This is the only video game I've ever played online and will probably be the only one ever. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Here is the Tunngle thread from swbfgamers http://www.swbfgamers.com/index.php?topic=5511.0 , if you want to have an idea what to expect. It is very simple to use, and can be used for netplay in other games that no longer have master servers. Very cool piece of software. Also it would be interesting if we had more people crossing over from SWBF1 <--> SWBF2 in both directions to get some more players in both games.

SWBF2 netplay is never going away, as long as we have Tunngle. :action-smiley-043:

I really wish people would quit it with the "just use tunngle/hamachi/xlink/random vpn here" threads. These solutions aren't ideal and are a splint made of balsa wood at best. Additional networks are created, LAN servers are optimized for high-throughput application, not over IP. Configurations need to be set properly, things dont always work when you double click the icon on your desktop. In addition, theres no unified lobby. network Y has 2 servers, network x has 3, and network z is dead. The last thing we want to do is have the community fragmented even further.

Slightly modified executable, distributed as a patch. Everyone has the same lobby, nobody has to install any additional software, and it should be transparent to the user with most features fully functional.
