Best class for a new player

So i have been playing Battlefront 2 for a while now, and i seem to have trouble choosing my favourite class (not being a brilliant player). i was wondering what the rest of you thought.

My opinion: Regular trooper- easy to use, not overly powerful but good enough
Shotgunner- good damage if you know how to use the class properly, somewhat hard to get used to
Rocket trooper- good damage+ splash (good if your aim is bad), low ammo (bad if your aim is bad), mines (easy hero+tank+anything killer)
Sniper- great damage if you can no-scope, otherwise hard to use

i like the Rocket trooper because it does a lot of damage and is easy to use, and i dont worry to much about ammo because i die a lot :P just wondering what the rest of you thought.

Depends what you are comfortable with during any particular map. I prefer Vanguard (missile guy) in places with alot of rooms (like Jabbas or Tantive 4), Sniper in open spaces like Mos Eisley and Geonosis, Engineer where there's lots of cover and places for people to hide causing close combat (Endor and Naboo) and when there's alot of tank action, I'll do missile guy, like on Mygeeto. I mix it up between Vanguard and sniper on hoth, and on Polis Massa I will use mainly Vanguard. I haven't gotten comfortable with Empire Officer, Magna Guard or Wookie yet. Still trying to get the Engineer technique down since I'm tired of being blown up by engineers when I play Vanguard. It's my way of 'sticking it to other engineers'.

Any answer needs to be prefaced by saying we're talking about an FF-Off (friendly fire off) server.

Laying lots of mines, throwing det packs, setting of recons, shooting wildly, etc - are all dependent on FF being off.

Personally, I enjoy using almost all the classes depending on the scenario. I usually use either Heavy or Sniper until I get enough points to move on to a higher class. I think engineers in FF-Off are over powered, but luckily there are always noobs and bots around to trigger mines

I like the Reg trooper on most maps. It's accurate at almost any range, carries more grenades, and people tend to underestimate it (since most "pro" players wouldn't be caught dead using it). SBD is even better with its rockets and mini-shotgun. I will go to engineer on maps like Tantive and Jabba's, though - playing anything else there is effectively suicide. I've been trying out sniper more, recently - my internet is good enough to get decent accuracy - but I tend to reserve Heavy for holding Polis Massa hangars or eliminating heroes.

My best advice is to use the class you feel is the best for you to accomplish whatever goal you currently have (holding a CP, taking a CP, suppressing an area, etc). If you feel that a class isn't performing well, try something new.

Well this is what i do.

Personally i don't use Regular troops exept the SBD as it's tri-shot is basicly a deadly, fast shooting shotgun.(if you hit the 3 bolts it does 95% damage)
Vanguard(rocket/RPG) i don't ussually use it...but i like to change when i see a tank and mine it..

shotgun: i generally use this troop, it's fast does a lot of damage has C4 wich can be trown or noobed with
And has the ability of repairing himself and others, not to mencion he can repair droids and ships...
So you will see me on most maps with this guy.

Sniper: Open maps specialist i use it on kamino mostly and sometimes i just go no-scoping.

My gameplay is getting 12 points with the engie(shotgun) and then i move to Maga, darkie, officer or my favorite the wookie. :gunsmilie:

I use the rocket trooper as well. 1 hit, 1 kill. My main advice is to stick with one character on every board so you can get good with them. Then later you can branch out when comfortable.

Rocket trooper is easier to pick up but engineer is definetly the stronger unit and with practice it will become more effecive.

yea i might try sticking with just one character. before, i always switched characters depending on the map (like a lot of you said). but i will try just using the rocket trooper and see how it goes.

Or in some cases 3 kills :gun_bandana:

Indeed.
It's very difficult for me to lose to a vanguard, i just wait till they fire, then dodge it and start firing rounds.
Not to mencion ussing the C4(detpack) will make it almost imposible to lose.

Even skilled no scope snipers aren't so hard to beat on close ranges.

I don't know your technique, but the best players are always moving. Theyll fire and immediately roll left or right often. Also when shooting, they move side to side never really going straight at an opponent head-on for more than a split second to keep from being an easy target. They also use an angled approach (kinda sideways mixed with forward at a 45 degree angle) to move closer to an opponent for a better shot when out in the open. Make good use of cover (like walls or pillars) especially during reload.

Also, whenever possible, go for a head-shot. That's your best chance for a kill with just one shot.
