PS3 controller & MotioninJoy

Postby MATTHEW'S_DAD » Sat Dec 07, 2013 3:01 pm

I saw this being discussed in the server a couple weeks ago and I promised I would bring this up here. In game I use a PS3 controller and in order to use that controller I have to use a program called MotioninJoy. When loading MotioninJoy on my laptop, I had a good deal of spyware and possibly a virus that came with it. I believe I got everything cleaned off and everything works as it should and I've been up and running with it for almost 2 years now. Issues I've had are that the program will one day decide it doesn't want to start up in which I can only uninstall it and reinstall it, hence going through the virus/spyware nightmare again. I finally learned to save a "safe" copy of the file to a USB and reinstall it from that. I have to do this every 3-4 months for some reason, but no biggie.

Here's my question. Is this the only way to use a PS3 controller on the PC and if so, can one of our tech gurus verify a "clean" copy that we can use here or at least provide a download link for a safe version? Does that even make sense? For all I know, maybe my copy has the spawn of satan on it and I just don't realize it.

Oh, FWIW, I posted this here instead of the tech section to be sure that it's read. The stuff in the tech section seem to be ignored sometimes.

No help from me I'm afraid as I just don't like hand controllers. Wish I could like them as I would play more PS3 games, but I just love keyboard and mouse.

I was once like you... But then I took an arrow to the knee... No, wait... I mean, the I put in COD4 and got my ass kicked until I was relatively proficient with the controller.
That's my advice; buy COD and get your ass kicked until you learn.

I found this thread while poking around.
Looks like Xbox controller is the easiest. I don't care for the Xbox and wouldn't use it, but looks easiest.

I use an xbox 360 controller. I don't use a program for it, I just took a few hours mapping my keys in the BF2 options menu. (Drove me crazy when I reinstalled windows and had to remap them :cursing: )

I don't know if that can be done with a PS3 controller, but if not have you tried Xpadder? I use that for my emulators and it works fine.

First make sure that you downloaded it from the right site. Then search on Google for the offline version because it will work even when your Internet connection is not. Then make sure you run it as Administrator and that should be all. If this doesn't work you will have to be more specific with your problem.

P.S. When using a PS3 controller there is a massive sprint delay, tap block right before(not during) you run to get rid of it. This is not a glitch and it will work no matter what force you are using.

Or you could learn to use a keyboard and mouse, no messing, no additional software.... :whistling:

I used MotionJoy and now use Glove Pie, I believe a bluetooth connection will work though, I would use your charger cord though, Btw try Glove Pie, and download a PS3 Controller script, or just do it manually(generally easy). Glove pie is virus free, and I use it for my xbox 360 controller and my ps3 controller. Heres the link, it says wii, but it will work for any controller. http://glovepie.en.softonic.com/
