Problem with an Admin

Postby MustangP51D » Fri Dec 27, 2013 3:22 am

Folks, despite the fact that I fire this game up only once every blue moon these days, I am consistently and repeatedly being harassed by your new admin, Pootus Tangus, almost every time I join now. Ever since you have made him an admin, he has been picking fights with me, switching my teams mid-game, and banning me for friendly jest with other players.

Just now, I joined and saw Dona Augustius -- a guy who loves whoopin' me -- and proudly exclaimed, "Dona I will teabag your face. And I want you to like it." Pootus issued an instant 1-day ban for Disrespecting Other Players. Is anyone going to entertain the possibility that someone took that as a serious or profane insult? Is tea bagging forbidden or just immature online gameplay :) ? Dona didn't complain, b/c I knew -- as you do -- that neither he nor anyone else took me seriously. Pootus just banned me immediately w/o any inquiry, discussion or comment from anyone else for construing silly and benign heckling as malice.

Another example is when my team captured all CP's during a game, and a dark trooper on my team began chain-zapping me during the countdown to victory. I didn't take it seriously -- he was obviously playing around now that the game was over. He shocked me about 3 or 4 times while I rolled around, and then I began zapping him back. Boom -- kick for harassing other players. Despite the fact that nobody should've been kicked for friendly, non-disruptive play that did not involve Pootus at all, I came back and did find it interesting that that he's only chosen to kick me. And yes, Pootus did admit to doing that directly; I asked him why he had.

The last time he switched my team midgame, I made a big fuss and told him to lay off or I'd post here. I don't know if you keep logs for any extended period, but please go back and look for this event (1 month ago at Mustafar). Please also look at my boot/ban history and the responsible party. You will see that I have been repeatedly, consistently and singularly banned by Pootus Tangus -- nobody else. I'm never booted or banned from your servers, save for on account of this guy. The last time I saw stuff like this is when Talon Karrde was around.

Can you kindly get him to stop? This is unnecessary and it's happening often enough that I decided to write this long post about it. I just want to play and joke around without having to suffer for someone's obscure, online vendetta against me -- that's a personal issue that I really don't care to be apart of. Braz, Ripley, Lordfred, Duel, M.D.: I'd appreciate it if you'd comment on whether you've really known me to be vicious and obscene or rather prone to loud, empty threats of mass online slaughter and other horseplay ;).

dude I was there and I read what you said... and really it was very inappropriate what you said to Dona Angustias. I like to play against you Mustang, but let's analyze your post a little bit. You are telling a player that you want to "t-bag" him in the face, and want him to enjoy it. Do you think that kind of talk should be allowed? If I were to literally translate those words, it wouldn't be something allowed in our servers. Just saying....

And as for the other kicks... well, that's kind of Pootu's style of dealing with minor issues.

I think you will find there are always two sides to every story, so I would like to hear Poot's side too. Mustang you weren't banned for shock, you were banned for the disrespect. Sounds a bit different when you are another player, and you aren't the one receiving it. Yes, he may know you, but not everyone else does. Your comment would therefore be very out of place in a crowd, no matter whether you know him or not. I would have preferred a warning though, to be honest.

I've never had a problem with Mustang. The game is rated T for teen and I'm probably one of the most lenient admins here when it comes to this type of thing. So there's my response. :innocent:
Besides, why play JBA when you could play HA? :afro:

[quote="CommanderOtto"]If I were to literally translate those words, it wouldn't be something allowed in our servers. Just saying...."

And if I were to "literally" interpret every threat that other players usher at interval (e.g., "Die!!!!" " Eat that!", etc.) yeah, I would think the server was a vulgar place. In the context of an online video game, you know as well as I that teabagging means pressing the "crouch" key over a player's corpse and nothing more -- don't play dumb. In any form of dialogue, you apply contextual reasoning to determine a person's attitude and intention. Yet in this case, you're choosing to not apply it and settling on the literal, worst possible interpretation of what I said, despite the fact that I'm not a habitually vulgar or hostile person (or player). Why is that? 0_o

You're also quick to excuse a "style of dealing with minor issues." Back to the issue of interpretation, shooting teammates -- like everyone does -- after all cp's are captured isn't an "issue" at all. Again, you're choosing to accept the worst possible interpretation, despite the fact that it happens regularly in jest w/o anyone getting kicked for it -- just me in that case although others were playing around too. It also contradicts the escalation criteria outlined in your own forums:

"The order in which the penalties are listed is not necesarily the order in which the admins will act, the strenght of the penalty will depend on the history of the player, so repeat offenders will most likely be instantly banned without a warning."

Am I a habitually disruptive player or "repeat offender?" Don't think so. I believe that's why Braz said that "[he] would have preferred a warning" -- 'cause if someone (anyone) had expressed that they felt that one was a little off color, I would have toned it down to keep it clean. So when you guys write these rules down, do you expect your admins to abide by them or not? In this case, one didn't. So the issue is whether you will acknowledge that reality or not.

Lastly, Braz, you are correct in that I did not get banned for shock -- I got kicked for it. He's also switching my teams midgame on the regular (typically after blasting him multiple times  ). So, just b/c the most recent problem was not a case of team-switching or getting kicked for non-disruptive play, this does not mean that they are irrelevant to the pattern of obnoxiousness I am trying to establish.

Guys, I'm a reasonable person, and I expect the same of others. If anyone complains or gets angry when I'm teasing them, I typically knock it off. This isn't happening; I'm just being booted & banned by Pootus -- nobody else -- without any kind of warning and explanation. That should raise a red flag for you. I'm kind of disappointed that I'm telling you, "Hey, this guy keeps bugging me," and that the nobody really addressed it -- even if you agree with yesterday's pettiness in contradiction to your own rules...

I'd appreciate it if I can enjoy the game when I come, without being swapped to another team or having my gameplay scrutinized for the most minor justification for boots & bans (without warning). There are always two sides to a story, like you say. I welcome & encourage you to ask Pootus about the above; I also encourage you to look for my boot & ban history and chats with Pootus about switching my team. I believe he'll have a very difficult time explaining them or why I am singularly and repeatedly booted by him & nobody else. Guys, I've laid out the problem & told you where to go for verification -- it's there if you want to look at it. I've said what I have to say, so I'm finished in this thread.

I believe we've already had multiple discussions about not switching teams on JBA or NYC.
I'd like to hear from Pootus on this

Is this the player called Mustang, or are there two players using that name? I've never seen a Mustang P51D in our servers.

Mustang, i'm not excusing Pootus, i'm just saying you are not the only one. I honestly don't think he has a grudge against you... if his style of dealing with small issues is good or bad, that's something else. Pootus will be here sometime and give his side of the story.

As for the tbagging, I still think it wasn't right to say it. I know in game that means to just hit the C button. Hell, I even tbagg in game myself. I just didn't like the way you said it... but anyway, I know you are not known for trouble but I am pointing out why Pootus might have banned you.
