Grafic card upgrade

Well i'm mostly into knowing my components, but besides benchmarks i would like to know this from people who actually HAVE IT, since iv'e seen people wanting to upgrade to these before...

Anyhow at first i wanted to buy a 460GTX of nvidea, but i've checked the stores here and they go at the limited edition for around 200Euros or else i'd have to change to a brand(gigabyte) wich i had problems with before....

So now the choice goes between the 550GTX TI version released when crysis came out...or the 560GTX (not TI) version wich iv'e checked is better preforming then the 550GTX, but altough it preformance is better the 550 costs 120Euros and the 560 costs 160 So i'm asking myself is this +40Euros worth the preformance on this?

Ill be checking some old forums i ussed to go for this, but i'd like to hear comments on this.

Edit: just found an interesting site for GPU comparisson wich is much better then any site i ever seen....this would be these 2 cards comparison
http://www.hwcompare.com/10975/geforce-gtx-550-ti-vs-geforce-gtx-560/
And this would be the "small" Diffrence between my current card and the best i could buy

I guess you will have that card for a while and then 40€ are worth it even if it is just a little better.

:stupid:
I had a similar thread about 3 months ago with the same question (upgrade from 8600gt).
Go for the GTX 560, I have mine for 2 months now and it's working beautifully. I have no regrets buying it.
So far, I can max out every game I have so far (though they are at least 1 year old).
Battlefield 3 Beta (most demanding game for me atm) has been running smoothly with all settings at high. Haven't tried the Ultra settings yet but I see no need.
If you can, go for EVGA. You may get an extra free game (Batman AC if you want it) which cancels out the extra 40 euro investment and you can get 3D Mark 11 for free as well if you're into this.
Also, the GTX 560 will be able to handle games at 1920 x 1080 resolution much better than the GTX 550Ti. If you have a monitor with 1080p resolution, take it to consideration.
Hope this helped.

@Yanoda

Exactly what i mean someone who actually HAS THE CARD.
Ill probably stick with the 560GTX now, after seeing how much more it preforms then the 550, and counting that i was going to get the 460GTX wich still preforms a little better then that 550...
Also i can't get EVGA it's an Asus, but like you said asus offers Batman: Arkham City for free with the card :punk:
I went to check the BF3 requirements, and it recomends a 560GTX card and a quad-core processor, altough a i-5 2.8GHz dual sould be enough....
I recomend you testing it on ultra   it will probs not depend on your card but on the rest of your PC

Anyhow thanks for the comments, gunning for the 560 and hopefully ill have it during the next week

OK, per request.
Played BF3 for 10 minutes (as it was only a test).
Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x3 720 @ 3.4 Ghz
Memory: 4Gb (2x2) @ 1333 Ghz
GPU: GTX 560
Resolution: 1280x1024

All settings at max values. Had no problems, no lag (even with explosions). GPU was running between 90 & 100%, temperatures were still good.

Cheers

P.S. If you need any other information, let me know.

The resolution is a tad low, but as someone who's actually looking into buying a new card, could you include your power supply information as well? I'm still running with a crappy 400W, so that's the first thing on my list that needs upgrading. Also, could you use an FPS monitor or something to see what it actually is? One man's smooth is another man's unplayable, after all.

Okay narg here it goes.
For the wattage YES you DEFINITLY need a better power supply.
I ussed to have a 500Watt nox and when i ran my old 8800GTS when i was playing games my PC ussed to RESET due to not having enoug power when it needed it(i think sometimes a spike can come along and thad did it)

I'd recomend getting something between the 700-800Watts, and make sure they have PCI 4-8pin cables(depending on what your grafic card needs)
To help you a little tough follow this link of asus, it's a power consumption calculator showing you how much you will need, altough go a lille above it since they show minimals
http://support.asus.com/powersupply.aspx

As for FPS get http://www.fraps.com/download.php

That's the max my Monitor can do unfortunately. :wheelchair:
My PSU is 700W, minimum should be 600W I would say.

FPS: Used Fraps. Without Fraps, could increase the FPS a bit.
Lowest I got was 45 FPS with large explosions etc. Highest went up to +80 FPS in enclosed areas (tunnels, rooms etc.)
I think the Card will be able to handle 1600x1200 easily, 1920x1080 could be pushing the card and reduce FPS considerably.
I say 1920x1080 at high settings will be perfectly playable.

Hope this helped
