Postby (SWGO)Minas_Thirith » Thu Dec 27, 2012 2:10 pm

So i'm wondering, has anyone upgraded to Windows 8? i finally saw the limited 30€ offer on it, but i'm wondering how compatible it is with games.
Any thoughts?

It should be compatible with everything that works on Win7, but there's no real reason to upgrade unless you really like huge square buttons.

I upgraded one of my PC's to Windows 8. A lot of the mods I have for battlefront don't work now. They probably need to be tweeked somewhat. A couple old games I have also don't work, but other then that Office and my CAD program work fine

From what I read, it wasn't anything to get excited about, and you're probably better off leaving it as Windows 7, until MS decides to screw with the code with updates over time and make you have to buy Win 8 because Win7 would become useless. Easiest way to sell new crap, is make the older crap incompatable. I miss some of my old games like 'MechCommander'. Still have the disc, but my older computers are long gone. :-|

So why pay for it and why get it?

I kept an older computer with windows 2000 on it for a while so I could play Age of empires 2, Dark Forces, and Starcraft. Classic games that should never die, but the PC did. It made me cry

Mine came with it, I guess there isn't much of a reason to pay extra for it.

my brother has it. I recommend it!! I really like the squares that give you access to almost everything in the desktop. It's also nice to see how accessible skydrive is. If they decide to add more free space, that would be great... it's almost a part of your computer now. and plus, it is compatible with swbf2.
