malware in swgo?

Postby CommanderOtto » Tue Mar 05, 2013 12:20 am

for some reason, i'm getting a message from my browser saying swgo is distributing malware. It's odd but I only get this message after I click on Pics and Vids (section of the forums) then Funny Pics (thread), then Post Reply (after a few seconds, then the message pops up)...

I was wondering if you guys are having the same problem?

One of the images posted in that thread is from a site reported to have malware, then.

that's what I thought. But I don't think it's mine because that only happens in the last page of the post where MT posted some obama stuff :whistling:

I wonder if someone could remove those images? If there is malware there, then it should be removed to avoid spreading it.

It's probably all the 'porno' you look at. Sorry man. Even the 'pics' have malware.

It might have been pingtest.net. I think they were having issues with viruses in the past.

Aye.

Looks like it was your picture of Vader in the post on Fri Feb 22, 2013 3:58 pm, Otto. There's no actual malware anywhere on our site - you can't actually be infected through an image anyway, and the site in question was probably just temporarily flagged.

Actually, fun fact - you can technically be infected by an image. It can't happen by viewing one on the internet, though. You'd have to download a specially prepared image with malicious code hidden in it, manually change its extension to .exe, and execute it. (For those not aware, this is an incredibly stupid thing to do, you can't do it by accident, and there is no plausible reason you should do anything remotely similar. Naturally, many thousands of people were infected this way.)
