How to set up a PSP to the internet

Does anyone know how to set up a PSP to the internet via WI-FI ? I have a Netgear Wireless routor which supports online multiplayer gameplay. The PSP says that it has picked up my routor but when i test the connection it says that it does not work.
Does any one have any suggestions?

Make sure you aren't blocking yourself out via WEP or WPA....

Make sure you're trying to connect in infrastructure mode, and you should know what kind of security your router is using, such as a shared password key, and you'll have to enter that on the PSP.

Make sure your LAN switch is on, your PSP will detect your router but wont connect to it.
