Banned from All Servers

YO!

Has anyone been banned from all servers before? If so, how'd you fix it?

I tried to get on yesterday but was banned from all servers. I closed the game a couple of times and it finally let me in.

Tonight, I've closed the game several times, restarted the computer and logged off as user, but nothing works.

Anyone know a fix for this? SUUUUUURE would like to play. :)

Thanks for any thoughts!

hey imaim!

I was looking at the RM but I don't see imaim anywhere. This is really odd.

If what you are saying is true, this might prove my hypothesis that people who evade bans are stealing hashkeys from other players. Maybe some a-hole like Wise2Lies was banned on the three servers with your keyhash? Because seriously, how can some people be banned and come back 10 seconds later? Another good example is that kid "Bricksquad"... he would literally just come back seconds after my permanet bans. Maybe these people are using a program to steal game keys and they used yours? Other than that, I seriously doubt anyone here has banned you from all servers.

Are you able to access other servers not swgo related? If you can, then it could be what I am thinking... if you can't access any server, then it could be that a game file was messed up in some way. Then it might be best to reinstall and see what happens.

That's something I've suspected, but never talked about because I didn't want to give people ideas.

Basically, if you set up a server and get someone to come on, you get their keyhash.

If you can somehow modify the packet that sends out the hash to send the stolen hash or modify the memory that stores it, you can impersonate them. I've fiddled with the memory hack idea but never got it to work, the hash seems to be generated on the fly and immediately sent.

I've also experimented with the idea of generating all the possible keys and hashing them to find the correct one. However, I never attempted to code it because a little math will show that the number of keys you have to generate is so large that it's not feasible on consumer hardware. I did find out that the keyhash is a simple MD5 hash of the serial code, nothing special.

You could confirm by double checking the keyhash and the IP. Just make a server, join it, and note down your keyhash.

Imaim, when you say all servers, do you mean all SWGO or literally every server? It could just be a GameSpy glitch... Keep us updated.

I believe Gamespy prevents 2 cdkeys from being used at the same time - which means if it was somehow registered as being in-use on another server, it could block you from joining anything. However that being said, I don't think it's possible to steal someone's keyhash. To authenticate a player, GameSpy sends a random string to the user. It is then appended to your key, hashed, then sent back. GameSpy then verifies it and sends the player information to the server. So I don't believe you could simply steal someone's keyhash.

I don't know... I mean, how can these kids generate keys so fast? People like Wise2Lies and Bricksquad are certainly not buying them. They are generating them somehow.

Imaim, one thing you could do is work with Bryant, save the ban list, erase the bans from the RM, and try to log in. If you can log in, it means someone was banned with your keyhash. If you still can't log in, then it is some kind of gamespy glitcch.

Gamespy won't let two people with the same cd-key be on the same server, but they can be on different servers. i'm pretty sure of this b/ when I used to rent the library's copy of swbf2 and then run it in safe mode there were plenty of times I couldn't join servers at certain times.

it's possible... just ask heffix

First off, this is the focus. He wasnt banned; hes having some [m'kay] up issue, maybe a migraine strength boot bug(?)...

Secondly, Gamespy (or something else) prevents duplicate keys being used on the same server. I had the same key logged in to JBA and HA plenty of times- like a few years straight.

Also, as far as pirate keys, if you have a keygen, it only takes a click and a c/p to change it up

BAH! That's what it was: I just paid and now it works!

Seriously, though, I did just try a few servers and it all works again. It WAS all the servers: both dedicated ones and those hosted by someone with a couple of slots.

Not sure what it was, but it's fine for now. Thanks for all of your ideas, fellas!

I made a script over 2 years ago that can generate cd-keys...

By the way, the same thing happened to BurzaP 2 weeks ago. I'm guessing gamepsy glitch somehow, only explanation for how someone ends up banned on literally every server.
