Problems with SWBF2 DVD

Hey, this topic sounds a little bit mysterious so I ask you to pay me an attention for a while and listen to few things.
4 years ago I bought SWBF2, downloaded international patch 1.1 and everything HAS worked. Now it's the same. Where is the problem?
My bro bought another SWBF2 2 months ago when it went out in reeditions(in Poland) so we could play together on JBA. He installed the game[without any patch at first]-everything was working. When he downloaded and installed patch 1.1 something s**** up - he clicks "launch the game" and sees a critical message: " Insert a correct DVD." My friends also have this problem. I've tried to find a solution: restarting comp/launching it from C:/Program Files/LucasArts(...)etc. Nothing helped. Then, I used my imagination and insert to his comp NOT his SWBF2 disc, but MINE. And what?..... It worked. And is has worked. However, my DVD is slowly going to a bin. In few years I'm sure my DVD won't be in a condition allowng to launch a game. I just want to know what to do to launch my bro's SWBF2 without using my DVD. In patch there isn't a problem. I'm 100 % sure it's in a game file. But which one? Which should I delete or maybe add? Please, help me.

I have heard of this issue before, especially with international versions of the game.
Unfortunately, the site with the info is down at the moment, and I can't remember the appropriate fix, but I know it does exist.

If it's a newer DVD, there should be no reason to update to 1.1. I would try uninstalling the game completely, removing all files from the SWBF2 program files directory, and reinstalling the game.

I got this problem since the day one. It is a known bug on international version DVDs, and frankly - it is one of many reasons a lot of Euro players still play 1.0
The solution is called "No-DVD crack". I know it is a warez, but since LA don't care much to make my legally owned copy playable, I don't care about them too.

Hit me if you need more help.

1.1 version won't let him to apply the 1.1 patch over it anyway

First of all, it hasn't installed patches so there is a need. And waht I want to add, I reinstalled it 2 times, including removing all files connected in any way with swbf2. And also did a format of his hard drive :) Without a doubt- there is no solution. But thanks.
