Equal Rights for the LGBT Community?

Postby Mandalore » Tue Dec 28, 2010 8:17 pm

I know it's been a very hot topic in the last decade or so, but what are your opinions on the granting of equal rights to the LGBT (Lesbian-Gay-Bi-Transgender) community? I am fully for their full equality. They are human. They are just as good or bad as any one of us.

Please be clear. You say "equal-rights". What missing rights do you support them attaining?

In specific the right to marry. Obviously you can't force religious institutions to carry out marriages that they don't wish to, at least in most of the western world. I also find the wide spread discrimination and hate they face throughout the "Civilized Christian West" to be deplorable.

I support equal rights for LGBT's and think it's only a matter of time before it happens.

What Mandolore is saying is that it's not ok for any Christian to hate but it's ok for him to hate. Also Mandalore, do you think that the Christians in your civilized European State would approve or are they just as hateful as the Civilized Christian West?

Discrimination and hate against LGBT's crosses all religious and ethnic backgrounds unfortunately.
The hate against LGBT kids bothers me the most. Often they have nowhere to turn. Kids who get picked on for being nerds or fat or whatever have a much better chance of finding acceptance and support at home, church, etc. LGBT kids often find scorn from their parents, denunciation at church, etc.
It's incredibly sad to me, and one of the reasons I'm so anti homophobia on the forums and game servers.

I completely support this except for the word "marriage" which I believe defines "a union between a man and a woman" not "a union between two people." I have nothing against a homosexual union... they can f up their lives however they want. But I disagree with it being called a marriage.
