Nationstates: Create Your Own Country

Hey guys, I started going on this website called NationStates, and it is pretty fun. You create your own country name, flag, government etc., and then each day you are given a few issues, and as a leader you decide how to react to those issues. This ultimately affects how you country turns out. It's really amusing and easy. You should try it out...

Here's my country's description so far:

"The People's Republic of An American Union is a fledgling, devout nation, renowned for its devotion to social welfare. Its quiet, industrious population of 6 million are prohibited from doing almost everything except voting, which they do timidly and conservatively.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 53%, and even higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Woodchip Exports.

Voting is compulsory, cars are banned, the mining industry is making inroads into environmentally sensitive areas, and the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. An American Union's national animal is the Bald Eagle, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Dollar."

I suppose the fast track to failure is to hire a buttload of Progressive 'Czars' to run programs, and to give you advice based on their totally wacked-out philosophies, which you eagerly follow and adopt…Then, after the debt you amass becomes too much to recover from, you could execute all your Senators and Congressional Members as a show of reconciliation to the people, then sell off massive tracts of land in order to pay your debts to third-party individuals who turn out to be representatives of foreign governments…Then, after the foreign governments seize control, ….yada, yada, yada….

The Protectorate of Nargotopia is a fledgling, devout nation, remarkable for its absence of drug laws. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Religion & Spirituality, and Commerce. The average income tax rate is 26%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Retail, Furniture Restoration, and Arms Manufacturing industries.

Crime is moderate. Nargotopia's national animal is the Samonuh, and its currency is the Nargobuck.

Not really. There are differences. My country focuses more on environmental issues, and voting and military service is mandatory...

I'm not going to start an environment debate, but mandatory voting would probably be a good thing. We'd actually get a true consensus on who the public wants to be President, instead of one which is skewed by the fact that younger people tend not to vote and the elderly tend to vote more than any other group...
