He does understand that China owns quite a bit of treasury bonds, correct? They wouldn't square a deal, they'd bring the USA to its knees, make it suck Chinese [Richard], and then brick right in Trumps face. Either that or you would actually get China to become very aggressive in foreign policy in a pseudo-American Imperialism route which so far they have not been practicing to the scale that they can.
Actually, the Chinese want profit, but more importantly, they want all those Billions we borrowed back, so they'll talk. If they bring us to our knees, they get nothing.

Lol. If America defaults on their loans, our credit rating will plummet, allowing them to jack their rates up for our borrowing while at the same time basically absorbing old American interests that we could simply no longer afford to take care of.
And if it really came down to an armed conflict, I don't think any of us need to be savants to tell the outcome of America trying to fight the might of China while at the same time in two (three if you count Libya-though I don't) wars of attrition. To be honest, even if America wasn't fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan we'd be hard pressed to even get a cease fire out of China. We could barely hold them back in the Korean War at the relative height of our military might, and now that China is catching up with us in terms of technology and infrastructure.
So "nothing?" China holds the high hand, it's up to the American leadership to try to worm their way out of this mess.
