Anyway, Dutch, really sorry about this, I hope your dad makes it through this tough time and has a happy recovery. I can't imagine how this must feel to you, so I will give my condolances to you throughout this time.

I concluded it was a serious accident injury due to a DWI. Therefore, it made sense as to why he was in ICU. Alcoholism is a horrible thing for a family to go thru. Everyone suffers. My sister-in-law had the same problem, and we helped out by caring for her young daughter while she struggled with the addiction. She's a wonderful person, but had a rough dependency.

Prayers, my friend. Both my father's parents are no longer with us due to their habitual lifestyles. No child deserves the life of addiction when they had no choice in the er.

I'll take a stab at the possibility of alcohol poisoning...

I just don't understand how I missed the whole drinking thing. When your dad gets better, get him help. Don't take him to AA those people don't know what they're doing, they substitute one addiction with another. I HAD a father who was an alcoholic, divorce was the best thing that could have happened.
