Our body isn't very energy effecient. All metabolic reactions are inefficient and a large proportion of the potential chemical energy available to organisms is vastly reduced at each trophic level, so there.

Well, if you compare our body to our current machines (cars etc.) and fuel consumption we're considerably more efficient for movement. It all depends on what you compare our bodies to... otherwise you're correct.
